Thanks Penton, Paid Geek, Talk and all the other insiders for everything. We really do have the best set of insiders on any forum!

Still... I agree with the others. Let's be big about this and not be gloating over HD-DVD fans (well not TOO much)...

Bravo WB and the BDA!

I've been continually amazed by how people here tend to instinctively look for the downside to every bit of news. Now we get unambiguously good news, Warner going Blu, reported by Reuters, with quotes from Warner people announcing this, and...

...please are waiting for "confirmation".

What is wrong with you people? Again, this is from a Reuter news story:

Quote:
"The window of opportunity for high-definition DVD could be missed if format confusion continues to linger. We believe that exclusively distributing in Blu-ray will further the potential for mass market success and ultimately benefit retailers, producers, and most importantly, consumers," Warner Bros Chairman and Chief Executive Barry Meyer said in a statement.
Warner has gone Blu. Believe it.

Kind of funny since the conventional wisdom here at Doldrums Central had settled into "nothing is going to happen for a while with Warner and you guys are going to be disappointed at CES". I didn't buy it, because the head honcho of Fox Home Video had indicated some big move (what else could it be but Warner?) that would make it clear by CES (which meant CES or earlier) that we would have one format soon:

Quote:
“The table is probably set for high-def in 2008,” says Dunn. “I think by CES it will be pretty clear there will be one format.”

Quit doubting and accept it: Blu-ray wins!

It's time to smoke the peace pipe with DV guys.

He just stuck up for BD hard in the AVS meltdown forum. I would enjoy having him here, he's got some good insights.

What say you?

I want to thank the BDA, Penton, Geek, Talkstr8, KJack and everyone else involved in making this happen. Honestly, you guys stepped up to the plate and took care of business. The war is now over, people can rejoice with a single format, and im so happy for the future of HD movies. Great job guys, great job.

Absolutely. We need the HD-DVD guys to drop the red discs and now start purchasing Blu's and hope that Universal and Paramount make this a quick victory.

Agreed. I don't post here much but Crackbone knows me well at HDD We have gone to battle together many a time against the HD DVD zelots and I have no issues with Dave V. I think he leaned Red, but he was usually quite fair and I really believe that he wants one unified format.

Cheers. Hey Doby!

A big thank you to Penton.

I didn't think his hairdresser comment was Pentonspeak. Turns out I was wrong. Looking forward to more great news, but I think we all realize that it is inevitable now.

To Universal: I want Heroes S1 on blu-ray.

I just want to thank all of the insiders and especially everyone here! This is very exciting news, especially if this leads to the endgame. What it all comes down to is we all love movies and want to see them in high-def. With Blu-ray winning, we will get a lot more of what we want a lot quicker. I hope HD-DVD supporters will see this and switch over to the Blu....
