Definitely. In fact, I'm going to have my own Blu-ray vistory party tomorrow night. But that sounds like a great opening film.

Nah. That would be mean. Just stop on by my party.

I'm out for the night everybody -- gonna go party. I'm gonna party more than New Years tonight.

(If no one hears from me tomorrow, send someone with bail money, wouldya?)

Welcome, I hope we all get a true HDM replacement for DVD now. Then we'll all be winners in the end

Insiders, thank you so much for all your contributions!

I feel very priveldged to watch a lot of this history unfold!

Now, does anyone want to take bets that there will be more studio movement and/or retailer movement by ces end?

On an unrelated note.....(ahem)Have we not forgotton about the lady who need highlights? lol
I especially now, say they're out of fashion, better off to go with a fresh solid color to fit in! lol

As for Paramount, forget about them for a while, they'll be back eventually...
Oh, I have no doubt about Paramount. I still have the Jack Ryan Collection on my Blu-list at Amazon and I have a feeling it'll come back to life before year's end.

Thank you for all your war efforts! From your comments I take it you played a personal role in the outcome of all this? If so, well done! How about our other insiders, esp. Penton or Paid? Without giving away anything about their identities, would you say they personally abetted today's events? If so, significantly? I can only imagine the frenzy on this board if it ever comes out that Penton's personal war efforts turned this thing around...

How did you know when my wife and I sit down to watch blu-ray movies?

It's beyond a plan bud, consider it done!

Hmm, Blade Runner is a great choice but which version...

Toshiba's Comment on Announcement from Warner Bros. Entertainment of Its
Exclusive Support for Blu-ray Disc Format

TOKYO, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba is quite surprised by Warner Bros.'
decision to abandon HD DVD in favor of Blu-ray, despite the fact that there
are various contracts in place between our companies concerning the support of
HD DVD.
As central members of the DVD Forum, we have long maintained a close
partnership with Warner Bros. We worked closely together to help standardize
the first-generation DVD format as well as to define and shape HD DVD as its
next-generation successor.
We were particularly disappointed that this decision was made in spite of
the significant momentum HD DVD has gained in the US market as well as other
regions in 2007. HD DVD players and PCs have outsold Blu-ray in the US market
in 2007.
We will assess the potential impact of this announcement with the other HD
DVD partner companies and evaluate potential next steps.
We remain firm in
our belief that HD DVD is the format best suited to the wants and needs of the
consumer.

Can an Insider comment please? I'm sure it was to be expected,
but it seems a little threatening to me.
Don稚 worry about it, potential complications have been anticipated.

It would be nice, at least i would like to know who the top guys who help us out during the thought times. Thank you all again.

Hey to any insiders, what affect do you think that WB's new position will have on its future investments towards DD or the industry as a whole now that MS has shown what it will do to get things?

Outstanding

It feels SO GOOD not having to worry that the LOTR movies will get the treatment they deserve, when they come out in their ALL-BLU Glory

Have a Happy Happy Blu Year Everyone!!!

This is why they are going to continue to release movies thru May on HD DVD. Must be in a contract and then they are finally free of any legal bonds.

Sorry folks, no time to answer any other questions today as I知 on my way out the door now to head out to the Big Show in Vegas........for presentations and such.

When I return to the office I expect to be literally swamped with things to do so I don稚 know how much time I値l be able to contribute here upon immediately returning from CES.

I値l make a special effort to get an official Blu-ray bomber jacket out in the mail (size small ) to a certain mystical model we have here sometime before the end of the month so that she can get started on her photo shoot.

I値l try to get paidgeek back on here around the 3rd week of the month.

According to this link:

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...o_Blu-ray/1327

Warner did not take any money to make the switch in stance.

Insiders?

I suspect there was _something_ motivating them past the undoubtedly 100's of millions that MS/Tosh had on the table besides category growth. If not, then major KUDOS to Warner.

I really doubt Warner Bros. was offered any money in order to do this. Unlikely Paramount/DW and DreamWorks Animation.

I'd assume that's why this deal has been in the works since September. They probably double and triple checked all of their red contracts and then checked again.
