So I think I should be included in the thank you's that are flying around.

Could I have tipped the scales had I bought an hd dvd player??? Makes you wonder. lol If they do make a movie about this format war I better damn well be included.
Thank you Mystik! You helped tip the scales.
Love your pics! I think you're a great person and one of the best Blu supporters.

Not to take away from the Insiders who have certainly contributed towards this victory, but there are many here on this Forum who, as well, made significant contributions to this outcome. To 'all' those who have hung in there, did their part, with dignity and respect, Thank You !!!

Or it was Fox at the last minute pulling some neutrality stunt with warner to go HD-DVD exclusive. I'm not giving any credibility to the HD-DVD side of the story as Fox really wanting to do it. I think it might have been designed this way to appear real, then really smash HD-DVD this CES. It worked if this was the case..

After all, the BDA did say the gloves came off after Paramount.

we really won't know until there are books written on it.

actual question to insiders:

I've heard rumors of Sony dealing with Toshiba to smooth things over and maybe work out some sort of common ground to help Toshiba let down HD DVD gracefully.

Info?

Also, Toshiba has the contract with WB till May. And Paramount till April of next year. I presume Univeral also has some contract.

Can Toshiba be convinced (paid) to relax these contracts so these studios can get a move on their BD product and cease HD DVD production now that it's clear that the industry shift to BD is taking place?

I would hope that the Insiders stay here. AVS did not watch your back and only needs you back for the site click count. This site will stay devoted to Blu-Ray. You wont have to swat fly's all of the time. Hopefully you will only get serious questions that are not trying to trip you up.

I believe it's either December of this year or January of next year.

I think Fox never had any real intentions of going red, but like any good business they wanted to hear was Toshiba had to say. They knew they could use this as leverage to get some concessions out of BDA. But who the heck care Warner is Blu!

Late Jan/early Feb by my math. If we keep this up long enough, we can cover all the months of the year!

I expect them to be out early, personally.

I'd like to hear more about this from insiders too. All of this time I thought BD+ was the main reason Fox was Blu-ray - kind of surprises me IF any of this HD DVD talk is true.

Default Question for RBFilms

A question for RBFilms:

Richard, now that Warner has announced Blu exclusivity, can we expect a similar announcement from RBFilms? You know we won't be slagging you off at every possible opportunity, and we appreciate your efforts in making the best product you can.

+1, thanks for standing up for the best possible AV experience in the face of all of those red ant FUDsters. Nature's Journey is definitely showpiece material, and a great comparison of what can be done on Blu-ray when optimized versus HD-DVD.

Judgement day is here and this thread has gone..well it is out of control. I am sure that they will have to start a new Insider's Thread after the initial "storm" passes.

There are plenty of other threads for the stuff that's being posted here. It's pretty silly when someone has to highlight an actual question to the insiders when that's supposedly all an insider thread is for. Understandable given current events, but it might be time to cap it.

They said they would do just that after all the hoopla dies down. Personally, I'd wait until after CES b/c it'll probably get really cluttered with a lot of CES talk as well. Besides, the insiders have said they won't have a lot of time to answer questions until after CES anyway.

Why would they spend $999 when they already have a HD-DVD player. They could by a stand alone for $249 or a PS3 for $399 and use the additional $600 to $750 to by all the BR disks they have been wanting to buy for so long.....
