I hated that all the screen real estate was going to waste back then and I still do. But talking about LD, maybe it's time I get a S-video to HDMI converter and hook my LD-S2 back up and see what 4K scaling will do to the Japanese version of Star Wars Ep IV to VI.

Dolby Vision is the way to watch, and is much better than the HDR disc. The Disc voucher unlocks the Dolby Vision UHD version on Vudu. Some screen shots from Vudu on an LGE6.

And a completely unscientific comparison:

Dolby Vision (Vudu)

HDR10 (Disc)

1080p (Disc)

I started to watch this movie yesterday and everything was done right, great picture and HDR experience and great Atmos track.

Cool. I got my Atmos Receiver yesterday but it was getting late by the time I swapped out the old receiver and added the Atmos speakers. Haven't even have time to run the auto calibrations yet so hopefully tonight.

Just watched it and it's almost as though it was made for HDR. I've not seen brighter HDR highlights. This disc is a real treat for the eyes. All the Jaeger fights and Hong Kong scenes look spectacular. Just wow.

After the dissapointing Crouching Tiger disc, this is an incredible demo UHD. How it should be done

Yes. The hdr effects are amazing!! I understand this is a digital film, so no grain. But I'd love to see hdr effects like this on a film movie.

Yeah there's so much punch to the image, everything just pops and is so ridiculously 3 dimensional.

Give me a break. Apples and oranges.

Do you complain about the lack of color in Schindler's List too?

It's still overpriced on Best Buy in Canada at $43.99 but thankfully I had a $5 code which brought it down to $38.99. Still a lot more than I wanted to pay, but I can't wait anymore lol

I've been trying to stick to a no rebuy policy with UHD blu-ray but I'm going to have to break that for this one.

The 1080p image.shows clearer detail on her outfit and the platform she's standing on. I'm now even happier with the more immersive 3D edition.

We saw it the first time.

On a decent monitor the DV UHD version looks the best.
