I just got in the game of 4K and jumped in with a Samsung 65KS8000 and bought a Xbox One S for my 4K HDR player.
Here is my problem. All of my 4K movies colors are Dim. I see the quality difference (which is nice) but the colors are not popping like everyone says. For example I took my Pacific Rim Blu-Ray version and put it in my PS3 and then the 4K HDR disc in my Xbox One S. Played both movies and kept switching back and forth between the 2. Night and Day difference in the colors. The Blu-Ray version explodes with color! I went out and double dipped and bought the 4K because what everyone was saying how awesome it was. All of my 4K HDR disc are the same. I did the same above with TMNT 2 and Star Trek Beyond. I have 4K HDMI cables. I have messed with my settings a ton and still a big difference in the colors. What am I doing wrong??? I really want to enjoys these 4K HDR movies. I didn't go out and spend $2000 for nothing I hope. ![]() |

I have tried both HDR+ on and off. Yes with it on it is dimmer than off. But with it off still not as good as the Blu-Ray.

dynamic contrast medium or high color space: auto I have the ks9800,and i dont like using movie mode because its not very bright to me. so i enabled CalDay from the service menu. but before that, i would suggest the above settings in either standard mode or even dynamic. ALSO, did you make sure to turn on UHD HDMI color on the tv?? |

I was noticing a darkness issue too, but it took 5 minutes of calibration to get my UHD copy of Labyrinth to "match" my 4K mastered BD on another input. I turned on dynamic contrast, raised the saturation up a few points, tweaked the brightness and contrast a bit too. Now it looks as bright and colorful as the Blu-ray, but the colors look fuller and more nuanced, and the highlights look awesome.

Finally got my 4K TV set up and made this my first disc to watch; I am not disappointed. Probably should've led with a true 4K disc but if this is what 2K looks like then the future is bright
