The blu-rays of Pacific Rim were crushed to s***. UHD is the correct way I think. It's also a good disc to use when you're trying to explain to people what HDR is and does, even though as Geoff said it's just boosted stuff, if you actually flip back and forth between the UHD and the old blu people can really tell the difference.

Aye. As I've said before, it's the opening up of the low end that I like most about the PR UHD, along with the lovely colour, it's the the Light Cannon™ "HDR" part of it that I couldn't care less about. The 3D is magnificent too though.

I wonder if the title got lower nit trim passes? Compared to more recent content graded on the Dolby Pulsar, with really high nit peaks the detail in the light source is more discernable.

Anyone seen the iTunes 4K in Dolby Vision? Is it better than HDR10? I was tempted to try it out but already own the disc.

Depends if someone's TV mangles the tone mapping of the disc, see the discussion earlier in the thread.

Thanks Mr. Rude-y.

It was to compare the HDR10 and DV. Not that irrelevant nonsense than the incessant gifs.

This is what I'm referring to, where people are literally comparing the DV to the HDR10 and it's just on the previous page

Well, he has clearly made a point long time ago he loathes me (he publicly quoted as well). So whatever I say or do is not going to bode well. I will continue to remain outside his elite club.

I don't mind difference of opinion and a bit of anti-snowflake sarcasm but being rude is not welcome.

So I have now looked at the link. Thanks for the same.

Oh I don’t care we’ve known the issues with this one for a while, I’m just being a goof

Dude...what the **** are you talking about? You aksed a question and I answered, with no sarcasm or snark intended. If you're getting 'Nam flashbacks from the rest of the thread then you should've said so

Mate,

It wasn't targeted at you. Why would I as you are the most knowledgeable resource in this forum? I was referring to the post which said nonsense and it wasn't from you and I can see the post has been deleted.

I know it wasn't targeted at me, but leading with "Mr Rude-y" hardly endeared me to your plight. I just clean didn't have a clue what you were talking about.

Great timing

I actually just happened to watch this for the first time. I was unsure about blind buying it so I rented it on Youtube. While it wasn't perfect, it was definitely a very fun ride. I'd love to see it in proper 4K with Atmos.

Is this OOP? I decided to finally pick this and Uprising up and the 4K is gone from Amazon and Best Buy. Talking about Canada.

I finally watched my copy a couple nights ago -- I had only seen the BD -- and this UHD is a stunner IMO. The movie is fun, too. I didn't bother with the sequel since Guillermo del Toro wasn't involved.

It doesn't seem to be available on Amazon UK or CA at the moment, however Amazon US has copies available for $16 US.
