Official deal is with Warner and boutiques who license from MGM have to credit Warner like they did when Fox (now 20th Century) had it. And yes, Warner is actively releasing MGM’s catalog films on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K.

Arrow, Kino, Shout/Scream, Criterion, Vinegar Syndrome, MVD, Synapse, and in the UK only (for now) 88 Films also have official deals with MGM. So yeah, everyone.

Warners are the monkey, not the organ grinder. If MGM aren’t releasing anything via Warners aside from the Rockys then that’s MGM’s decision to make. Not the other way around.

Are they though?

The only MGM title I've seen Warners do on 4K is 3000 Years of Longing. Have they done any catalog titles at all?

The Daniel Craig Bonds 4K individuals and box set are now distributed by Warner. There is even a packaging change with the Warner distributed set.

There is also Mad Max in the new Anthology set with the disc produced by Warner.

True, they did the reissued Craig Bond set, and they partnered with Universal on the updated Craig Bond set including NTTD, but that set is basically just a modified version of the one previously issued through Fox.

Good point about Mad Max being included in that set.

Still, a shockingly limited number of MGM titles that have come out on UHD directly through Warners.

It seems like MGM would rather license them out instead of releasing them themselves via Warner. Perhaps as the Amazon buyout settles, that will change.

MGM released the 1st and 2nd volumes of the final season and complete series of Vikings through WB too... it's too bad they didn't release the complete series of Teen Wolf themselves, I don't trust the VEI version.

Were those UHDs though?

I've had a few recently bought MGM back catalogue titles mention Warner on the reverse, they're the same UPC just have slightly altered covers from when Fox distributed them. They even still have Fox intros on the discs themselves

It would be neat if some of MGM/Orion’s direct to streaming titles got discs (Thirteen Lives, Samaritan, Anything’s Possible), but I doubt that will happen. Also curious what will happen with Air (Amazon Studios) which will be distributed internationally by WB per their distribution agreement with MGM.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but two former Twilight Time releases are getting BD-R releases from MGM

Are you sure Warner is distributing these? I don't know whether it's Warner Archive putting them out, or they're standalone releases by MGM.

I'm not sure. I had looked up a Warner Archive title at Moviezyng, and saw it had the same starting UPC of 810, so I assumed it was also through Warner, but I now see others on the site from Paramount, and Universal that are also starting with 810, so I think it's just MovieZyng/Allied Vaughn's UPC numbers. So yeah, it could be coming directly from MGM through Allied Vaughn MOD. The case templates do look the same as the ones Warner Home Video (not WAC) tends to use (like for House Party for instance), but wihthout the typical BD logo, but I'll edit my post above to remove the Warner part until it's confirmed.

Any title that's MOD is made by Allied Vaughn though, including Warner Archive, that's not a distributor.

There are still others that make MOD releases but AV has become the defacto company for studio releases over the recent years. However, yes, they're considered a distributor.
