Default V-The Remake

This actually looks promising.

Hmmmm, given Network TV's willingness to get a little slinky, I wouldn't mind seeing some bikini-clad hot chicks seduce unwitting humans, then eat then alive (if ya know what I mean... ) Last time around you only had those grody 80's unitard things...)

I for one loved the original, but I hated the series.

I wouldnt mind seeing a remake. I just hope they dont screw it up like Battlestar Galactica.

The New BSG is the first time Im actually rooting for the cylons to exterminate humans. Little whiny b_t_h_s.

The original cylon centurions were badass. More menacing then stormtroopers. Any why is starbuck a girl?!?!?!

Anyway, I hope they remake this in the same spirit as the original, a humanity fights back theme. I know in the mini series they sent a message to "the ones who have beaten us before". I would like to see that message answered.

Stay away from the red dust.

I think it looks cool but I never let myself get into a new series unless it gets established, I'm sick of getting into a show just to have it canceled before it's time.....

I think it looks pretty good. I have a hard time following a weekly TV series since I don't have DVR currently. I'll give it a chance though

Thanks Rob!

Starbuck is a girl because the original Starbuck was a little b**ch anyway.

The original mini-series was awesome, I'll be watching it again in preparation of this re-telling of it.

Is this going to be an on going series or a mini series like the original. I loved it and have both on S DVD. Probably bugger it up but cannot wait. To much rubbish on TV.

The new BSG is in no way better than the original, just different!!!

I enjoyed the mini-series when it first aired, not a bad idea for a remake although I share DVDave's sentiment for sequels in general.

As for the new BG, I really enjoyed the first few seasons until they decided to go the soap opera route and kept trying to surprise the viewer with wild plot twists. Nothing wrong with surprising the viewer of course but it shouldn't be just for effect and that is what it felt like at the end.

I think V's basic premise is a very interesting and intriguing concept: humanity being subjugated by aliens ... not in an ID4 kind of way but with the focus on the political and emotional repercursions. I think a remake like that could very well work. It'll probably be hit or miss but I sure wouldn't mind them trying!

ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson says his network's remake of the 1980s miniseries "V" could consist of four seasons, planned in advance, each with 13-22 episodes each. The show is planned for midseason.
If this is the plan, I hope they give it a chance to build an audience.

I loved the miniseries, and thought the show was ok. I'll give this a watch.

I would be interested to see if they actually stick to this. It would be nice to have a series written and designed with an end, and not strung out to a weak ratings fizzle.

I watched V when I was pretty young, and it freaked me out. I will give this series a chance. (Maybe it will prompt an original V release on Blu )

I will not, however, use this thread topic as a chance to bash BSG...

Actually, believe that's the only reason they're doing it in the first place:

Universal needed a quick replacement to keep NewBSG's momentum going after the finale without a break (just in case "Caprica" does a quick AfterMASH)--
So back into the Universal Glen Larsen vault, to find another studio-owned 70's/80's pop network-scifi franchise they can artificially replicate the same NewBSG psychological trauma subplots on, since they think they've discovered the Midas formula for Universal-owned remakes.
(And they've already done "Knight Rider".)

Let us hope they never dig down to "a complex, psychological post-terrorism spin on The Powers of Matthew Starr".
