Anolis Entertainment will release these Universal sci-fi b-movies on Blu-ray (limited to 1000 discs).
Street date of THE MONOLITH MONSTERS will be march 28, the other titles will follow later this year. Sources: http://www.anolis-film.de/ http://forum.cinefacts.de/235503-uni...f-blu-ray.html Last edited by Moonlight Shadow; 02-26-2014 at 04:28 PM. |

Oo I quite fancy The Land Unknown, so it looks like Universal are up for licensing out their fifties sci-fi movies.

Afraid not. Most likely, the reverse will be the same motive w/out that age certificate. I have never come across an Anolis release with different artwork on the reverse side a la Arrow.

Thanks, although I was hoping for the same artwork, only with English text. Obviously not a deal-breaker, especially with their likely being zero chance of a US release from Universal. Now if only it would drop a few euros! Even at only 1000 copies, I can't see this selling out quickly, so I suppose there's no particular rush.

I received The Monolith Monsters today. It is region B locked, but looks very nice with very good sharpness and contrast. The sound is quite good as well, with either English or German track available.

wow, just hard to believe these films are coming out in 1000 only versions.
just have to believe they will make it out somewhere else at some point. I have the Universal dvd set, and even though I love seeing how sci-fi developed from the fifties, it's still kind of a tough sell to order a locked bd of a middling b film from Germany even though I can play it. hopefully Tarantula will come out or The Incredible Shrinking Man. I would have to order those two I think. ![]() |

nice.
![]() when is Universal going to partner with a US distributor for god's sake for all these older films that are coming out every week in Germany? This is getting to be a total joke. ![]() Last edited by Arkadin; 04-13-2014 at 01:46 PM. |

I guess by 1957 this surely must have been intended for widescreen, but I really hate that they chose 2:1 over 1.85:1.
just doesn't look quite right to me as far as info lost, but I'm sure Storaro must be thrilled beyond belief. (Univisium lives on through b-movie German blu-rays!!) ![]() oh well. will have to pass on this one even though the rarity does intrigue me. Last edited by Arkadin; 04-24-2014 at 10:24 AM. |
