@DDH, your chart left out LG's new A1 series OLED TVs. The A1 series is LG's new 2021 entry level OLED TV that supports 4K @ 60Hz and will have the same video processor used in the B1, the a7 Gen 4.
The new A1 Series will be available in 48", 55", 65"and 77" screen sizes. |

The Sony sets having AV1 for streaming and not USB file playback is just weird. I can only speculate that their video playback software used in their sets has not been updated to use the AV1 decoder implementation they have decided to use. A third-party player like VLC can certainly do it, so I'm curious to know why Sony hasn't.

Lots of people are taking for granted that Samsung's Neo QLEDs will be the best LCDs of the year, but we've already seen from TCL's attempts that just mini-LED alone doesn't make a TV great, or solve issues like blooming that people were expecting. You need a good local dimming algorithm behind all those zones to make them count. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony's FALD LCDs still outperform all the competition this year, even without mini-LED. Time will tell! |

The qualty of the processing is still soooooooooooo much more important than people think it is.

I remember Vincent did a video where he compared the gaming performance of the LG CX, Sony X900H and Samsung Q90T, all in 55". Samsung damn near deactivate local dimming in game mode, whereas Sony are much better at preserving it. And it was funny how, even just from the video, you could easily tell how much better the X900H performed in terms of contrast and blooming control - and it has around 1/4th the number of zones as the Q90T! Of course the physical number of zones still matters too, and there comes a point when a TV like the X900H with its 32 zones can only do so much, but it goes to show how important the processing is as well. The real magic happens when you pair a larger number of zones with a great local dimming algorithm. |

I watched some stuff on a neighbours Samsung once. It's like Samsungs have a warm 11 setting. Also good to see Mecha posting. Was feeling a lot less Mecha round here. |
