Very few are making it into consumer homes. Almost all are going into virtual production studios around the world.

Yes, and just waiting for confirmation! If all goes as promised we'll have Sharp's new FS1 AQUOS QD-OLED TVs by mid-end of August.

I'll get back here once I confirm the actual ship date and prices.

The problems with MicroLED are inherent to it's very design and the industry desires. High-resolution panels are very difficult to manufacture at the smaller physical sizes used for TVs, low-resolution panels are very easy to manufacture at large sizes used for large wall-mounted signage/cinemas, and because of the industry forcing 4K on consumers, nobody is actively going for the sweet spots where things "just work out", because miniLED, QLED, and OLED already cover living room TVs.

Affordable MicroLED will be released the moment our kind member HDTV1080P tweets that he is going to upgrade to 4K lol.

MicroLED: Still Not Ready for Prime Time

Quote:
Nine years ago, MicroLEDs were being touted as the next generation of displays, replacements for LCDs and OLEDs. That’s about 16 years after they were first discovered. Like most things in the display industry, this bright shining technology has been lauded and fawned over for years and it still looks like it is years away from being ready for mass consumer consumption. One of the frustrating things about the display industry is how much time is given to discussing technologies that move at a glacial pace but are treated in the present tense.

It's where microLED was, a few years ago. Just R&D prototyping and design/manufacturing development on lab fabs. There's no indication that it will hit the market in the next 6-7 years, unless breakthroughs are made. Too much money has been invested in OLED design and making over the past several years, so the industry wants to focus there instead of trying to chase other tech that is still experimental.

So frustrating seeing that list. They need to release the 55" in my market. They are missing out on a sale from me at least

The M series isn't replacing C or G right? Probably just picking up where the W series left off

Why are people still buying those TV when Micro-Led is upon us? Keep what you have and don't get caught up in new annual OLED models, that tech has already peaked, it can't go any further.

MicroLED is "upon us". Thats a real good one.

Dude OLED just got to 2000 nits on the higher end it'd be great if some more yearly increments (in whatever, chemicals used, color volume, less banding, 1500-2000 standard for peak nits in the premium lines) made it so 1000 nits was the FLOOR of the lower models peak brightness.

They only hit those nits on a 10% window in the torch mode. Stop throwing away money on those panels when a revolutionary display tech is ready. The display manufacturers already have Micro-Led sets ready for purchase, they trying to milk the public to get every last dime out of OLED.
