Samsung 2021 Mini LED TV Leaked as Q90NA & Q85NA "QLED Neo"
Some model numbers of Samsung's 2021 QLED TVs have been leaked on the Korean National Radio Research Agency database, including the QNA85 and the QNA90, with the character "N" likely denoting the company's trademarked "QLED Neo" with Mini LED backlighting.

Going by last year's model numbers in Korea, Europe and North America, the equivalent TVs in the USA and Europe will probably be the Samsung Q90NA and Q85NA. We'll have to wait until CES to confirm for sure.

Up to 30K LEDs...

Wake me up when they can do at least 8,000,000. With CRI of 99. Otherwise what’s the point when we have the much superior OLED?

The general public shops for TVs based on price not quality. OLED TVs are more expensive than LCD TVs due to their poor yield rate which has never been solved since the tech was first offered to the public.

So, I notice the catch for this contrast and stuff is "when paired with...dimming technology".

Not exactly a leap forward in TV tech, more of a shuffle forward. Great if you're in the market for a lower priced, higher quality LED, but not the next big thing. But hey, anything that improves LG's generally poor LED range is a good thing. I found their dimming implementation in recent LEDs generally worse than their competitors, especially when combined with edge-lit IPS displays. Their latter was and is properly yuck. I was unfortunate enough to own one of their 4K edge-lit IPS displays with "dimming (LOL) before I got my OLED so the sooner that range dies, the better! IMO the only edge lit TVs that are bearable for anyone who wants great quality but can't afford FALD or OLED are those that use VA panels.

They're putting coolant in OLED so they can reach a mere 1,000 nits on a 10% window, I don't call that a leap forward.

Doesn’t exist in any usable form. And what’s the CRI on those LEDs? Has to be at least over 92 to beat OLED.

That was an experiment by Sony for commercial use not specifically for home use. Since it has been shown, it has gone nowhere.

I couldn’t even begin to care about the general public.

OLED is an organic based technology. It's max. life is 45,000 hours but because it's organic, the colors (RGB) will not age uniformly. The Blue will age much faster than the Red then the Green.

MicroLED is an inorganic tech. It's max life is 100,000 hours. It's RGB LEDs will age uniformly. It can achieve a much higher brightness than OLED while still maintaining absolute black. It also consumes less power than OLED. Because the tech uses tiles instead of a single panel, the size of the display is based simply on the size of your wallet.

It's been 3 years since Sony showed their CLED at CES. The only company pushing MicroLED for consumer use is Samsung.

BTW - what ever happened to that Sony OLED monitor they showed years ago?

I hated SXRD, terrible display tech.

Will microLED achieve a CRI of greater than 92? That’s all that matters in order to beat OLED. The rest is waffle.

Here's the deal, we won't need to put coolant in the TVs to reach a mere 1,000 nits.

No one serious cares about nits.
