![]() Yep. Sony had an event and they put a meter right on the brightness window. There's pictures of them taking the measurement and its 1312 nits. Last edited by ray0414; 01-29-2021 at 06:43 PM. |

A member asked how many local dimming zones the X90J and X95J have. That Ken guy answered that the X90J has 32 zones (seemingly in all screen sizes), and the X95J 118 zones (in 85"). Going by that, it seems the X90J inherits the 32 zones of the X900H while the X95J keeps the same number of zones as the X900F, X950G and X950H. So we should expect 60 zones for the 65" and 75" versions of the X95J. The same member then asked about the peak brightness of the X90J, and Ken replied "1200 nits". That's a significant increase from the X900H, and it's obvious enough from the pictures that the X90J gets much brighter. Will be interesting to see how well it can control blooming! These are his subjective impressions based on what he saw at the event, so don't take them as the gospel truth, but Ken says the X90J is better than both the X900H and the X950H. He also says the X95J is a true beauty and very close to the Z9J when playing the same material side by side. The A90J seems to be his favorite/the one that excites him the most, which isn't surprising! Last edited by MechaGodzilla; 01-29-2021 at 07:40 PM. |

After asking around, people have told me the 85" X900F/X950G/X950H have 70-something zones (most say 72, one guy said 78). That means that, if the Chinese claims that the 85" X95J has somewhere around 118 zones (may not be the exact figure, it's an odd number, but let's say it's close) are true, it clearly has more zones than its predecessor.
That makes it even more understandable why they - as they told Vincent - skipped a 55" model because they felt it would be too close to 55" OLEDs in price and they'd end up cannibalizing each others' sales. With an increased zone count, a 55" X95J would absolutely cost the same as a 55" A80J. |

We tend to forget the Toshiba REGZA X9400.
LG Display supplier of Oled tiles can offer various options to supply Oled tiles. The difference between Toshiba and Panasonic is that the Toshiba panel was supplied by LG display with the option of the integrated heatsink plate while Panasonic preferred to do it internally having more experience in the plasma field. . In these two cases, the increase in brightness was done by the pixel W. https://av.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/...a/1269662.html Sony was already aware of this option at the time and preferred to wait to see the results as Sony has become accustomed to doing. We can see it this year with the mini Led for its LCD TVs. We know that this year LG Display has new panels with a different pixel structure providing a 20% brightness contribution (the addition of a new green emitting layer according to Bob O'Brien of DSCC and a substitution of hydrogen by deuterium in the blue pixel compound that would increase its lifespan described by the CEO of UBI Research.) https://twitter.com/DDBH59/status/1354741683745943557 If we decipher the Sony marketing slide, we have the addition of a lamination of aluminum foil for heat dissipation and management of the four WRGB pixels for the increase in brightness and color volume. https://twitter.com/DDBH59/status/13...514432/photo/3 This new Oled panel manufacturing process will be offered by LG Display to various manufacturers such as LG Electronics, Sony, Panasonic and many others.
