Question.... Could turning off wi-fi connection and internet improve the tv's performance picture wise?

On paper, possibly. There could be signal interference and other electrical anomalies caused by an active WiFi connection. Outside of that, use of a TV's Internet connectivity and streaming software does take system resources and could degrade the picture quality if the TV's system hardware is meager and relying on CPU/GPU power to perform visual adjustments. I use streaming boxes on all my TVs, so as not to strain the hardware and to avoid the issues that come with the minimal hardware in TVs.

Just another reason why I avoid most YT reviews of anything. Just too much shillage of both the product and the person (like me! Subscribe me! Become a patreon! etc).

It might stop you from watching some terrible streaming content!

The AV YouTubers depend on subscribers and patreons. Not like these guys are flogging their body parts in various social media platforms to make money.

I do respect your opinion but I think we should not be salty all the time. Surely there are some good ones out there making reasonably assessments but ultimately it is exceptionally difficult to please everyone.

Is it all that different? I don’t think it is, they’re still wh0ring themselves for money, putting out the sort of milquetoast ‘content’ that their subscribers/patrons/gullible idiots expect. Christ, I think Onlyfans etc is a more honest way of making a living than most of the biased, ill-informed garbage that passes for “reviews” on YouTube.

If a video just regurgitates a spec sheet I could read myself in 2 minutes and tells me how awesome a product is then it's not a review, it's a glorified advertisement.

R&D in LCD TV panel tech has essentially stopped, says supplier

Quote:
The LCD monster has stopped evolving, notes longtime industry observer Bob Raikes, as Merck has confirmed that they no longer have any major R&D projects earmarked for LCD TV panels.

Merck, which is the dominant supplier of liquid crystal (LC) materials for use in LCD panels, has confirmed that it no longer has any major R&D projects in the area.

LCDs can have as many zones but when it comes to movie watching, pixel level light control wins hands down. However, I do like certain aspects of LCD TVs and I am hoping manufacturers continue to invest and improvise.

Btw, flatpanels are pro-OLED. Even though they quote what others say, the message conveyed are mostly pro-OLED.

This is a fact not an opinion:

All R & D money is going into OLED and MircoLED. That's also a fact.

Unless HiSense and TCL fix their QC/build issues, they won't usurp anyone's market position. They are fine for the Walmart crowd that lives on throw-away sub-$2K products, but not people who actually want a good product that checks the boxes.

90% of all the TVs sold have a purchase price of $500 or less. Business 101: Follow The Money.

People said the same thing about Samsung and LG 10-15 years ago...

Hi Robert,
Do you think Sharp's QD-OLED TV could be marketed in the US?

Samsung's first 89" LED TV costs $100,000

Samsung is bringing its first sub-100 inch direct-view LED TV, marketed as 'micro LED', to the market, but with a price tag of $100,000 the technology is still not ready for prime time.

JFYI, I found that Samsung has been selling different size microLED from that range - all at the super-large +100-inch end at this time - in different markets and has been selling them in non-US markets for some time.

It just keeps coming up as continuous validation my claim that MicroLED will find it hard to get into actual consumer reality anytime soon. If ever. Right now it's still for the uber rich How many years in? 4-5? Come on, now.
