No. Maybe 7 to 10 years from now if ever.

For some people reasonable means 10,000 dollars for a 65 inch. But to me even that is nutty to call consumer. It's still prosumer in my view. Like a boutique piece of audio in the tens of thounds for processors and speaker systems. Only upper class salaried people engage in this buying. Or would spend above 6K for a TV that size. With an unproven technology. For instance whats the heat/power situation. Just because it's MicroLED doesnt mean the manufacturers enable specs in the thousands of nits and full field 900 nits whites. Similarly what is color volume and gamut gonna be on the "reasonable" lines of the tech?

All these unknowns.

Usually 5K is the upper limit for actual consumers (the majority of us) for a display under 75". So in that light reasonable is double the asking price, wild notion...

Long time no talk!

Curious about some info on the 97" oleds.

Is the 2022 Version the newest 97" available, which is from LG? Is Sony planning a 97"

LG has a mid year new 97" OLED TV launching very soon.

If all goes as planned we'll have LG's new 97" M3 Signature Series OLED TV on display/demo at our Sept. 30, 2023 TV Shootout Evaluation event in NYC.

No other new OLED TVs in the 97" class will be available for the 2023 model year.

Awesome to hear. Are the specs out for it yet? Will it match the G3 in performance?? Really wish Sony would jump into that size but I'm sure LG is reserving those sizes for themselves.

I'm very much new to "Filmmaker Mode", but what is the verdict on the feature? I've seen recommendations and warnings in equal measure.

@ray0414

Here's LG's new M3 .pdf spec sheet.

@jess1581

Yes, the FILMMAKER Picture Mode will give you the best out of the box image quality.

Now, not trying to devalue your credibility, but are you saying that as a "salesman" or just an educated statement? If I use filmmaker mode, there's nothing I need to turn off first? Nothing to change before using it?

FM disables the gobbly-gook settings and visual processing that manufacturers put into their TVs, so that you're getting (what should be) a proper visual appearance on the screen. Whether or not you think it's "the best" or "ideal", is a matter of personal preference, but it's intended to be "how you watch what you are watching".

Would I still need to calibrate?

You don't "NEED" to calibrate, but if you are one of those people who thinks it's a good idea, then you should do it every so often and pay to have it done properly or learn to do it yourself. Some people just prefer to adjust their sets to their own preferences and others don't care.

Filmmaker isn't magic. It's just setting all the settings to what they should be. If you knew the proper value of everything, you could go through and set it all yourself, and it would be exactly the same, but it takes a lot of deep understanding to actually know what the proper settings for everything are, and it's very easy to switch to Filmmaker mode.

The one caveat here is that with newer TVs, they don't switch to the "dark room" 100 nit brightness like they used to, so you'll still need to adjust the brightness down if you want that right.

I turned off the automatic light sensor and the brightness opened right up. Beforehand the filmmaker mode was dimmed all to hell, so turning off that sensor helped big time. I thought there was no way that was intended. I also have local dimming set to high... is that just a question of preference or is there a proper setting for that?

See I'm not savvy to these features and I'm learning.
