Yeah, I would suspect the same. Dolby Vision came to X1 Extreme and up, HDR10+ might be for X1 Ultimate and beyond.

There's an easy solution for that: get divorced. Buy your dreamed TV and hire a house keeper at the same time if you can afford it, you can have your TV, not being questioned by a woman or anybody else, and the house keeper will cook and clean for you without complaining as long as you pay her. Problem solved, you see?

Yes, and sorry to say, at this moment, no 2019 OLED TVs from Panasonic for the USA market.

Panasonic and my company are firmly committed to Panasonic BD players and all of Technics products.

@Staying Salty, yes LGD's T-Con chipset upgrade that delivers an extra bit to the illuminated image is included in all LGD OLED module users, so Panasonic and Sony get the benefit of extra bit depth.

I'll try to confirm the other info in your post, but I do not have many contacts at LGD.

^ Hisense did a interesting 8k and 4K TV using what the Linux guy is all excited about.

But when cameras were walking around you could see obvious reflections off the display coating such at 1:23 his youtube from CES show lights and people walking by. I was interested how this looked as you approached 180 degrees to the side when someone talks about how the blacks are improved compared to current LCD technology versus OLED.

I know it's a YouTube video but still, look @ 3:10 (pause the video), check the right TV, what do you see?

How many zones did he say it has! The results are in real-life viewings, normal use, regular viewing habits...Blu-ray movies, UHD 4K HDR Dolby Vision, DVDs, 4K and 8K video streaming (YouTube), CBC, NBC, ABC, BBC, CNN, FOX, MSNBC, HBO, Netflix, Vudu, Hulu, Amazon, VHS, Laser Discs, ...all that movie/documentary/news TV channels watching jazz...National Geographic & all. ...And of course in the long run; reliability, picture degradation, angles, Black level, uniformity, retention, latency, judding, blurring, fading, ...

I'm much more impressed with 2019 4K OLED when it comes to my own personal and preferred visual pleasure and satisfaction, than the rest. Panasonic, Sony and LG OLED are still the TV maestros in 2019...IMO.

Good luck to everyone else trying to catch up, my very best season's wishes...let it snow let it snow let it snow.

Those blacks on the tv on the right are really elevated compared to the left. Not too impressed with the new Hisense tv. Either that or the new Hisense has a really poor AR filter.

Even OLED displays show blooming in pictures and videos people. Stop trying to judge a TV’s performance based on those. It’s been said hundreds of times now but it obviously warrants more mentions.

Did I miss someone, somewhere on this forum making fun of Mr. Johnson seen sleeping in our family room - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...n#post12949665

if so, I call that man-envy-of-dog.

Relax, it's only a video on YouTube. Everyone knows it and we mentioned it.
Presentation is everything in 2019. Professional reviews are the strawberries on the angel cake.

Cheers,

The ULED XD is definitely interesting, but there's just one little thing that prevents me from getting too excited... it's Hisense.

Then again, other companies have stepped up their game and turned their reputation around in the past, so who knows.

Yeah I’m weirdly cautiously optimistic about the brand. The ULED U9F has 1056 dimming zones plus Quantum Tech. That’s more than any TV ever at 75”, I believe. Not even Samsung nor Sony have had that many in any of their models as far as I know. I’ll wait for reviews on it but that TV is looking better the more I think about it. If they’re using a VA panel and their EOTF tracking and dimming algorithm is decent, this could perform better than a lot of the models from the major brands.

Then they announced that ULED XD model which sounds very innovative. Hopefully that technology works well and if it does, they bring it to this side of the world.
