Well, I think it’s safe to follow those with a long (hyperlinked info to 2008) proven track record of face-to-face conversations and not getting all their information from the internet - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post11990915

As far as world news, I’d start with Rachel (Emmy award winner and Ph.D, well, DPhil from Oxford) on msnbc - https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show and continue afterwards watching for another 2 hrs. as those folks also have a proven track record.

Panasonic’s 4K TVs: covering all the HDR options
https://news.panasonic.co.uk/panason...e-and-4k-lcds/

"At CES last month Panasonic launched its flagship OLED TV for 2019, the GZ2000 – the ‘world’s most cinematic TV’. Now, some of the GZ2000’s most desirable features, including its headline-making support for HDR10+, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are made available across Panasonic’s entire OLED and LCD TV 2019 models apart from the entry-level 4K LCD series.

They also all support HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG and HLG Photo, ensuring complete compatibility with all current commercially available HDR formats.

Whatever the source the viewer is guaranteed the most compelling, dynamic images possible on a TV screen."

Thanks for posting the article!

I just saw a great demo of Sony's new dual layer LCD HX310 color grading monitor next to the BMV-X300 RGB OLED color grading monitor at Sony's HPA Retreat exhibit. I'm ordering the HX310 and hope to be included in the 1st allocation that is scheduled to ship the week of Feb. 25th, wow that's next week!!

We'll use the new HX310 to set the white point on all of our showroom TVs before calibrating them and then use the color grading monitor again to compare the color fidelity and saturation of all of our TVs in the showroom.

We'll also use this monitor when we're calibrating our clients' TVs and at our TV Shootout evaluation events as the reference display.

The US is a very small fraction of the global 3D vision.
I have high hope in Alita for the North American 3D Blu-ray release.
But I also have zero illusion. And it doesn't bother me one single bit.
It's very easy to do business in the UK, in France, anywhere in the world where they are open for real business...(((3D)))

I love it that, out of all the possible things they could've put in that photo of the screen about halfway thru the article, they chose a shot of Fleabag. That show looks absolutely ****ing incredible on SDR 709 Blu, if they ever released it on 4K HDR disc (Geoffy doesn't stream) then I'd probably soil myself.

I'm considering purchasing my first 4K TV.

OLED and 3D are a must I'm afraid, which as best I can tell leaves me with the 2016 LG OLEDs as my only option. Most likely I'll go with a 55E6.

What sort of HDR experience should I expect to get from this TV, specifically combined with a Sony X700?

I have read about a number of worrying issues with HDR that are apparently display dependent. Goodfellas in HDR for example looks very poor on certain displays. I've researched the reasons why but I've been unable to figure out which displays would produce the problem. Would the E6?

Dolby Vision is also apparently very problematic on some displays, specifically a raised blacks issue? Is this something I would expect to suffer from with the E6? I ask because I understand the E6 is not a very bright TV, and that I should not expect much when it comes to bright HDR scenes, and that instead DV would give better results overall, even forced DV in some cases. But this seems pointless if DV ruins the black levels on certain displays, especially an OLED, which is sort of the whole point...

Sorry Eddie ^, like to help out but not familiar enough with the 55E6 to feel comfortable commenting on. In fact, I’ll be surprised if anybody steps up to help as last November some guy asked a question about Dolby Vision on LG OLED E6 and it was met with dead silence.

I remember when I used to do long technical posts - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...t#post10631803
anyway with the HX310 none of the hassle anymore with a needed Judd Vos offset by the manufacturer like with the X300

Something revolutionary? Something not new, a projector screen for front projectors, a screen not white but black, not black but charcoal color, a projection screen giving you better blacks? ...OLED- like performance?

We've heard it before ... Carbon Black (from Red Shark news):

How much advancement is needed in the Front Projector front to get the HDR right of the best flat panel displays...QLED, LED & OLED? ...MicroLED.

Is Carbon Black the technology for projector screens to give us blacks like OLED?
Are the theater screens of tomorrow being replaced by large LED panels for best high dynamic range (brightness, contrast, sharpness, colors, hues and blacks)?
Or is it Carbon Black screens?

Let's ask the industry insider experts right here...Penton, Kris, and other video gurus calibration staff.

I don't have a 3D OLED TV, but reading from the people who do, it's the best 3D experience ever from an OLED TV...the last of the Mohicans...2016 LG OLED 3D model, near top in line...E6. We are in 2019, I thought they didn't sell 2016 models anymore? You found one on eBay, a used one from a friend, one in a pawnshop, in storage, ...?

Check in the LG E6 3D OLED TV 4K UHD HDR thread where the owners share their experience with passive 1080p 3D ... like here @ forum.blu-ray.dot.com/

Lucky if you get a brand new LG OLED HDR 3D TV from 2016. If LG was still making those but with the 2019 more advanced technology they would probably rule the world. ...More than all the oil, guns, telecommunication network (5G cells) industries combined together.

Wherever there are Blu-ray 3D releases, I will be there! . Wait a moment! Didn’t you say you don’t care about disc releases? Less plastic in the world is a good thing in Your book?
