Went to a somewhat local pumpkin patch today for my daughter and man it felt like World War Z. Hundreds of people close together with ZERO social distancing going on. It was bad, real bad. People were waiting in line for the ride through the cornfield and everyone was shoulder to shoulder. No wonder we can't get rid of this virus. Almost no one gives a shit at this point it seems.

I of course believe coronavirus is real but I personally only know one person that has gotten it, and that person lives outside of my state. If this truly was a "pandemic", people would be dying left and right. At most this could be considered on outbreak?
I have found myself in a few uncomfortable instances. One place, people were just a little bit too close together, huggy kissy etc, Like nothing is going on in the world. Luckily I have not caught anything. |

^ -> and alas, read the latest memo released this evening - https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/10/polit...ate/index.html "this morning's COVID PCR sample demonstrates, by currently recognized standards, he is no longer considered a transmission risk to others" Translation: the patient’s PCR test is still positive, but he’s really close to the Ct cutoff (as predicted by my better half ![]() |

The problem is you need extreme measures and vigilance and in reality it is no where near that simple. But you say it is simple and you only need First simple thing, wear a mask. Second simple thing, only go out for essential purposes. Third simple thing, keep six feet distance from other people. Masks are not infallible if they were you would not need 2 & 3 I posted this many months ago when it was news https://globalnews.ca/news/6969802/c...es-care-homes/ here in Canada back in May when Covid was decimating a few old age homes Quebec and Ontario asked the government for help and it sent in military doctors and personal. These people had masks and visors and yet just the fact that they were for hours and close contact with sick people was enough for them to catch it even with all that protective gear you also said Second simple thing, only go out for essential purposes. Third simple thing, keep six feet distance from other people. so let me ask you this , was you getting a hair cut (since you posted about it on this thread) was the person cutting your hair six feet away? In what way is a hair cut essential for you? |

It turns out that when the 1st positive test for Covid-19 occurred at Dublin Airport on Tuesday morning; the other backroom staff member who was called up as a replacement on the Rep. of Ireland team plane to Slovakia by the FAI than subsequently tested positive for Covid-19 on Bratislava on Wednesday as reported by the Irish media on Thursday evening. How it got there along with the situation surrounding Aaron Connolly & Adam Idah who were close contacts of the positive test on Thursday has also been addressed by the FAI. It turned out that Connolly & Idah along with 2 other Irish players sat on the wrong side of the plane with non-playing FAI staff members as the plane departed from Dublin Airport to Slovakia on Tuesday morning. The 4 Irish players in this instance did not sit with their teammates on the plane who were meant to play in the match on Thursday night. They were not told by the FAI to move to their own seats while they were on the plane. Connolly & Idah were than forced to miss the game, under HSE Covid guidelines, as they were close contacts of the positive result on Thursday night. https://www.the42.ie/connolly-and-id...urce=shortlink It was then reported on Friday night that the FAI Ireland team & staff members went back from Slovakia to Dublin in 2 separate planes. Most of the FAI team mates & staff who were tested negative for Covid-19 were put back on their usual plane to Dublin. The positive test & the close contacts tested for Covid earlier this week then went back in a separate privately chartered plane to self-isolate from Covid-19 on their return to Ireland. But according to media reports this morning; it turns out more information has come to my attention. There are more details here. It turns out the backroom staff member who tested positive for Covid-19 in Slovakia on Wednesday evening was actually declared a false positive. He apparently had a 0.2% probability of having Covid-19 under Irish health system rules. One Rep.of Ireland player has also been officially tested positive for Covid-19 as of this weekend. The FAI have not released the name of this player as of today. However a total of 4 other Irish players were told to self-isolate from Covid as they were deemed close contacts of the player declared as the positive case. The 4 Irish players who were the close contacts from this positive case, are John Egan, Callum Robinson, Callum O'Dowda & Alan Browne. Those 4 players deemed as close contacts were meant to start for their Nations League game against Wales in Dublin this afternoon. Last edited by dublinbluray108; 10-11-2020 at 02:52 PM. |

But in order to have this you need 1) a gouvernment that takes this serious 2) a gouvernment that is willing to PO a lot of people and take an extremely strong stand. |

It's not a matter of "scientific research," it is simply elementary. Unless you have a test that is 100% accurate every time, you're going to have false positives. And the scientific community universally agrees that the covid-19 tests aren't 100% accurate yet, so it's just a matter of deduction.

Obviously you can't be 100% sure what the student would get with the normal system (is his "pass an A or a D but you can be 100% sure that an fail=F the exact same here but in the opposite direction the tests work by finding enough Covid-19 RNA on the swab to give a positive result. There might not be enough and so you get a false negative for many reasons (infection is localized in an other area, there was a bit of Covid-19 but not enough for the test to get a positive.....) But if the test finds there is enough covid-19 on the swab to give a positive result then by definition there has to be covid-19 on the swab to get a positive result. |
