Default Netflix's "Narcos" (Season 3) (2015 - 2017)

Netflix has confirmed its next series order. Narcos, a serialized take on Pablo Escobar and the Medellin Cartel, received a 10-episode order.

From director Jose Padilha and Gaumont International Television, the latest original will bow in 2015. The project gets an official greenlight with the addition of actor Wagner Moura to star as Escobar. It reunites the actor with his Elite Squad director.

“Jose and Wagner together created one of the most sophisticated and chilling portraits of criminality and official corruption ever in their Elite Squad movies,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. “Their version of the Escobar saga will be like nothing ever seen before.”

“Our idea is to tell the true story of how cocaine became such a huge problem in the U.S. and Europe – and how it all started here in Medellin,” added Padilha, now preparing Narcos in Colombia.

I saw the name Pablo Escobar and imediately remembered it from breaking Bad when Hank gives Walt Jr the book based on his take-down.

Going from previous Netflix productions i am quite excited for this one.
(We'll just forget that Hemlock Grove exists.)

I watched the entire series over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm going watch it again because of the subtitles. I wasn't use to reading all of the subtitle for such a extended length of time so there are some elements of the story I want to check out again. The first episode hooks you into the series and you simply can't stop watching it after that. Can't wait for season 2.

There was a series on the Spanish channels about Pablo, but no subs. I sort of understood some of what was going on. It looked pretty good. Cant remember the name of it though. I wasn't sure if it was the same one on Netflix, but from the trailer, I dont think so. The trailer looks really good. I will have to check out the series.

Default Narcos - Netflix original series

Didn't see a thread for this.

Quote:
Narcos tells the true-life story of the growth and spread of cocaine drug cartels across the globe and attendant efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict. It centers around the notorious Colombian cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) and Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook), a DEA agent sent to Colombia on a U.S. mission to capture and ultimately kill him. The series first season was shot on location in Colombia in the second half of 2014

Just watched this and thoroughly enjoyed it. Apparently it received a Golden Globe nomination for best drama series, and Wagner Moura was nominated for best actor.

This show is fckn awesome I watched the entire first season a couple days ago. It's for sure the most realistic portrayal of Pablo Escobar that I've seen. Can't wait for season 2.

I'm on episode 6 or 7 and honestly they flew through this thing wayyyyyyy to quick instead of expanding his rise and fall over multiple seasons feels like they just steamrolled through it almost like a mini series.

Except for some anachronisms that are hard to notice unless you're looking for them, and Wagner Moura's Brazilian accent which only native Spanish speakers will really pick up on, I was surprised by how great this series was. Looking forward to the end of Pablo Escobar's story, and seeing who else they focus on in upcoming seasons...

'Narcos' Season 2 Release Date Delayed, Says Good-Bye to Main Character

After months of waiting, it looks like fans of Netflix's "Narcos" will have to extend their patience even more as recent reports suggest the show could be delayed from its August 2016 airing schedule. When it does return to the airwaves, "Narcos" fans could be in for a bittersweet ride as reports hint at the main character getting killed off in the show's season 2.

The show's lead character Pablo Escobar, played by actor Wagner Moura, could die in the upcoming season, according to multiple reports. This is because "Narcos" season 2 will follow Wagner's real life timeline.

Season 1 told 15 years worth of the notorious Colombian drug lord's story, and season 2 is expected to continue with Escobar's remaining 18 months after his escape from La Catedral prison. In other words, Wagner's character is highly likely not going to see the show's season 3, if ever.

"Trust me, if we could find a way to keep him alive and keep Wagner on the show..." showrunner Eric Newman said in a press panel, as quoted by Slash Film. "He will die. The design of the show is we told 15 years of history in season one. At the point of Escobar's escape, which is the summer of 1992, Escobar has 18 months to live. That's not something we can change. To stretch that out beyond another season would be disingenuous of us. That story was always designed to have an ending."

However, Newman did say they were thinking of ideas on how the series will progress after Escobar's death, though they have not committed to any of these yet. He cites Showtime's "Homeland" as an example of a show that managed to continue even after killing off one of its main characters. With this, Newman is thought to be hinting at a third season for "Narcos."

"Narcos" season 2 was previously slated to return in August 2016. However, new reports are claiming this schedule could be delayed. "Narcos" season 1 was helmed by Chris Brancato who was later replaced with Adam Fierro who in turn stepped down. Now, Jose Padilha and Newman return as executive producers, but reports say it's still unclear who will take up the showrunner's role.
