Dunno if anyone caught CNN’s The Movies last night. It focused on the 70’s. And surprisingly when it came to discussing Star Wars, they had shown footage of the original unaltered Star Wars. In HD. From Greedo shooting first to the original Death Star explosion.

No idea how CNN got a hold of it or if Lucas gave his approval to use that footage, but what a tantalizing treat that was.

Would be hilarious if it was Harmy's version.

The AFI: 100 Years, 100 Movies special uses footage from the UOT, also.

Even when I watch the original theatrical cut of Return Of The Jedi when Vader turns to the Emperor as Luke is being tortured I still hear him shout "NO, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" in my head. Thanks for ruining my all-time favorite scene permanently George.

Rather than shouting it, Vader is thinking it

I’m pretty sure the 1998 and 2007 specials both used SE footage.

They did. People in OT did a comparison. It's definitely despecialized.

I still have not bought the original films on Blu-Ray because of this one change.

When the SE came out I was OK with them. I liked some of the scenes, was indifferent to a lot of them, and disliked Greedo shooting first. But Vader yelling "NO" made by blood boil and turned me anti special, ultimate, etc.

New Blu-ray for Disney...

Odd that Dark Phoenix is still listed as a 20th century Fox, when it's a Disney release as well.

DF still technically is a new release from Fox, whereas Star Wars I-VI are just catalogue titles that were originally released by Fox.

All the films are available in 4k HDR with Dolby Atmos at Disney+.

Not unaltered original. In fact there are new tweaks and changes.

If the footage is HD then it is not from the original, unaltered Star Wars.
