Because in some circles, the sequels are the greatest three-film set in the history of films. Yeah, I know.

Anyways, back to the topic: Lando did once own the ship, hence he was able to fly it. Nothing requiring Einstein levels of reasoning needed here. Lando had also mentioned his "maneuver" at the battle of Tannab which was more exposition giving Lando some street cred when it came to flying a ship. Its also evident he had been in battles - meaning combat. More data.

Rey? Ummm. Just happens to be the best pilot in the galaxy. Hey, its cool. Scrounging wreckage is a good substitute to become fluent at piloting a warship. I get it.

Lets not get too bogged down in OT vs ST stuff. Its not a legit comparison anyways.

None of that actually counters, offers a rebuttal to, or engages with the point that he made. Engaging with and interpreting the events on screen through one's own sensibilities isn't 'damage control', it's just subjectivity.

And unless you're seriously suggesting that Rooster has latent Force abilities,then what on Earth has Top Gun Maverick got to do with any of this?

Yoda still looks life-like from Empire Strikes Back and Return. They did an awesome job back then. I like how Lucas felt everything was riding on whether people believed Yoda was a real character in Star Wars, or that they were looking at a puppet. He said that if they thought it was a puppet, then he failed and the film could be a disaster.

I'm not sure what happened with Puppet Yoda Phantom Menace back in 1999, but it didn't look like Yoda at all. His species of Yodarian, but not Yoda. Even Lucas agreed, and had it replaced with CGI Yoda, which looks more like Yoda of the puppet design. Even so, nothing beats the actual Puppet IMO.

Now Gollum in Lord of the Rings Two Towers and Return of the King, that CGI character looks and moves like it's real most times. Impressive CGI character. Yoda CGI looks good, but the lighting on the face makes it look too flat, the shadows not dark enough to be a real creature.

Yea. Just watched TESB last night. Yoda looks great. Empire Strikes Back reminds me of some of the comments posted about the Andor TV series: it’s Star Wars for adults. The film has arguably the least amount of action or big battles but unfolds with plenty of tension and intrigue. Seeing Vader unleashed is great. Luke and Yoda are in such atmospheric scenes…. You feel like you are on Dagobah with them. Love Bespin and Lando.

Another quick thing too with Lando having previous flying and battle experience: he states "that ship saved my life more than a few times. She’s the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy". Clearly the dude has some Falcon seat time.

Let me also state that it’s great of one likes and watches the sequels. Go for it. I have found that my last few Star Wars marathons didn’t include them and I didn’t miss them. I’m content with ending the saga at the end of ROTJ. Everyone’s mileage will vary. Y’all do you!

I think TROS was always going to be doomed the moment Carrie passed away. It was supposed to be her movie and without her, it just doesn't work. That being said, the fact that it was helmed by two hacks known as JJ Abrams and Chris Terrio didn't help either. You can't build an entire movie on fanservice.

Andro made Rogue One retroactively better

For me, Andro is the best thing set in the Star Wars universe since ESB. I thought it was tremendous. So anyone saying you can’t do good Star Wars without Skywalkers is wrong.

Yeah - Carries passing was just brutal for many reasons. However, there were still numerous ways they could have made TROS not suck. But, it does. It kills the sequels since even if we thought the first two sequel films were OK, there is no way to get around that you're stuck with Rise being the final chapter. Ugh. Its unwatchable. I actually hate it.

Last Jedi isnt my favorite but I really like some of it & I could have lived with it IF TROS didnt end up being so bad. Rogue One was always great and Andor just added to its greatness, IMO.

I love Rogue One. Andor is very good too. Last Jedi has enough in it that with a proper third film, it could have all worked. But, as I said, Rise is so bad that it murders the entire sequel trilogy for me.

Honestly, I have pondered just stopping at the end of Last Jedi and pretending Rise doesnt exist. Lukes death scene and final act is great and Im good with his ending here. Han was gone last film. At the end of TLJ,our rebellion is where there usually are: out numbered and hanging on by a thread. But thats OK. Its 100% better than what we get in the next film. I couldnt are less about Reys "arc" or anything that happens in Rise anyways. Her origins being a mystery per se beats the fake Skywalker bull shit.
