That's sad; they should show all of them. Excluding the prequels makes it seem like everyone hates them, instead of just a few whiners with chips on their shoulders. And before anyone asks, I was born a few months after The Empire Strikes Back came out. So, I grew up with the unaltered OT on VHS...and I still enjoy the prequels. No, they're not perfect, but neither is the OT; I don't understand why people practically worship them. Yes, they were groundbreaking for their time, but so were The Godfather, Back to the Future, and Jurassic Park. Every decade or generation has a few that stand out, and the original Star Wars trilogy is no different.

It's more than "just a few whiners" but whatever makes you sleep better at night, sweetheart.

This magazine is coming out July 25. Now, it could totally be coincidence but isn't it a bit strange that a 40th Anniversary book is coming out 3 days before this supposed theatrical re-release? Instead of in May?

No thanks, I already have this...

I ain't your sweetheart, and it is only a select few that whine about the OT all the time. The problem is that those same whiners are usually the most vocal across the entire fanbase...presenting Disney and Lucasfilm with the idea they represent everyone else too. For everyone who complains about Jar Jar Binks, Jake Lloyd, or Hayden Christensen, I think there's probably another 20 who like them, but don't say much because the more rabid fans will eat them for lunch. I've seen some crazy followings in pop culture, and the insane folks among Star Wars fandom are pretty close to the worst. Only rabid Trekkies and Doctor Who nutcases come anywhere near close, spoiling things for all the more restrained admirers.

I've talked to many, many casual fans who are certainly not as angry about it as the bigger fans but still have that WTF look on their face when they talk about it. When the last release came out, I can't tell you how many casual fans messaged me (as their resident SW freak) to be like "What the &^%@ is with the blinking Ewoks and Hayden and...etc." And, yes, they all hate the prequels. So, again, whatever makes you sleep at night but it's certainly not a small group of people who dislike the prequels.
Or were they all just away the weekend that 3D Phantom Menace was released? Cuz they sure weren't at movie theaters.

BOTTOM LINE: **** the prequels. I hope Disney buries them for the next 20 years like Lucas buried the OT for the last 20. And then, the day Lucas dies, they announce they are re-making the prequels. Payback is a *****.

Ignore the *******s I swear some so called Star Wars "fans" are the biggest idiots I have wrote a lot about the character of Anakin Skywalker how a lot of people don't understand his character or refuse to attempt to. What happened with Star Wars is what happened with the Beatles or any pop cultural phenomenon it gained a ton of "casual fans" no problem with that but I hate when the "casual fan" starts speaking for the fan base. The "casual fan" expected a carbon copy of the OT when watching the prequels and had no idea what they were watching. Prequel haters as far as I am concerned can **** off and stop giving me their arrogant opinion why they think the movies are bad because to be honest nobody will never change my mind, I don't need someone's elese justifcation to validate what I think...I'm just sayin....

Yes because casual fans like me always get something Star Wars tattooed on their body. Your logic is as flawed as your grammar.

I wasn't referring to you in my post.....But a large majority of prequel haters are "casual fans" I don't care if my opinion offends you. Seriously grow up I am 38 and I am a huge fan I don't go around berating younger fans telling them what way to view the movies or what to think, that honestly is pathetic and I wouldn't put that past a repulsive fan such as yourself. The only time I berate people or get beligerant is someone states their opinion as a absolute truth or a fact. I don't waste my time on checking my grammer I'm sorry I don't think many of the psychopaths on this board are esteemed individuals worth much human decency anyways. At the end of the day it is all our opinion difference between me and other fans I don't give a shit I don't need to tell anyone I am right because I have little regard for what others think you stomp your feet like a childish ***** trying to convince everyone you are right

Prequel haters are fools. Star Wars is a kid's movie you watched and enjoyed as a kid, and that's why it's this special thing to you. If you actually grew up, as intended and met someone with whom you had kids with, and watch the prequels with them as you're supposed to, you'll find they enjoy them more, as they're more current and in line with what they consider good. And every stupid thing Jar Jar does is funny to them. They're not as good to us, cause we're not kids anymore and that warm nostalgic feeling is not being added to the mixture of our enjoyment.

But it's cool to hate the prequels, so every casual fan will do it. On the other hand there are actual "mom's basement" nerds out there who have forgotten the majesty of childhood and have no loved ones to remind them of it, who will also always hate anything new from Star Wars, and not understand why it doesn't hit that sweet spot, like the OT.

I've been a SW fan for 20 years. People like what they like. The drama is really getting old, and is tarnishing SW

Yeah, no. I don't know how old you were in 1977 but Star Wars was very much a cross-generational phenomenon. Everybody loved it.

People of all ages thought it was special because it actually was pretty freaking special.

Maybe. Or maybe this is one of those times when a cigar is just a cigar.

That's an interesting theory but how does it account for all the basement dwellers who can't rave loudly enough about The Force Awakens or Rogue One?

Do they all really hate TFA and RO too but shower them with praise as a way of passively aggressively attacking the prequels?

Because they are nostalgic, not original like the PT.

To be fair, the biggest challenge Lucas had when doing the prequels was the predetermined ending. The original trilogy had become so iconic and celebrated, that even people who'd never seen any of them still knew certain plot points. I know a few adults my age (mid-30s) who know that Vader is Luke's father...but they can't give anyone his real name, or explain what a Jedi is. My mother first saw the original film in 1978, after she graduated high school...and for the rest of her life, she said she never understood why so many went crazy over it. She didn't hate the films, but science fiction just wasn't her thing. I think I tried explaining "space opera" to her once, since she'd been a soap opera fan as a kid...but it went completely over her head.

Everybody just needs to understand that if you hate the prequels you are a loud vocal minority of nerd-rage haters.

And if you like the prequels, you're a Lucas-worshiping apologist who has no incriminating taste.

Just keep in my mind that it is NOT possible that you just think the prequels are poorly-made films, or that you enjoy them and find merit in them. That's just crazy talk.

You have to pick a side: are you with the Nerd Ragers, or the Lucas Holy Defense Force? You must choose, and choose wisely. For the true side will bring you life, and the false will take it from you.

FYI: Everyone arguing about Star Wars on a online message board is technically a vocal minority. If I even attempted to describe what I'm doing here to most people I know they'd look at me like I was turning into an Oompa Loompa.
