While these days a lot folk dismiss it as sleazy and exploitative, many it's seems simply unable able to get past the occasionally naked and from the offset promiscuous and sexually aware Luci (as played by an at the time 15 year old Linda Hayden), I think they do what is actually an engaging dark family drama a disservice.

I'm not going to pretend for one minute it's in any way a masterpiece, however it's certainly interesting from a psychological point of view to see how Luci's knowing manipulation of her adoptive family plays out. But I will admit that Linda's age will be a sticking point for many modern viewers, perhaps overshadowing much of what makes the film compelling because it's natural to wonder if the makers were exploiting a minor. I'm not sure they were and would be interested to hear Hayden's reflections on the subject.

Which makes the lack of new bonus material disappointing. As such will probably stick with my DVD copy and might upgrade once this new version hits sale prices.

Oh, and look out for a playing against type appearance by Dick Emery, that due to not knowing of it and it's seemed incongruity was the first time I watched the film a personal highlight.

The pricing error is because you are initally seeing the VAT free price.
9.58 x 1.2 = 11.50

There is a known bug existing on their mobile rather than desktop website which means when you access via phone or tablet it sometimes displays all the prices VAT free. Only when you log into your account (and knows you are a UK customer, assuming you are) or you go to checkout that it swiches all the prices you see to VAT inclusive prices.

This is actually illegal for a direct to consumer website selling to the UK public as they are misleading on price, so could be argued they sucker you in with a lower price before adding VAT when you buy. I guess no one has ever bothered to make a formal complaint to the ASA as they oversee websites not just press and TV advertising.

I do enjoy watching odd little films of this period that feature cast that went on to bigger and better roles. Another one with a star-studded cast I would like to see released on blu is TWINKY (1970) starring Susan George and Charles Bronson and directed by non other than Richard Donner.

I missed the post here but I saw the e-mail from Network about the two releases for June. Baby Love looks interesting, so I decided to bundle it with The Man in Grey. I already have a separate order for The Woman in Black with Lady Godiva Rides Again, so I'm looking forward to some Network treats in May and June.

I've been switching between what I've been watching in my large unwatched pile - 1001 movies, Indicator, Studio Ghibli and Vintage Classics

I thought I'd watch some of my many Network titles. The League Of Gentlemen is great (of course), but after that I watched Passport To Shame. It's the story of a French girl who ends up being forced to move to England into a marriage and a prostitution ring

I was quite surprised. The story was tight and held up well and the cameraman was one Nicolas Roeg. If not the first film he did, it was very early in his career

I'd definitely recommend it as one of the better B-Movie British films of the period

I am nervous about a long pre-order period in the current environment as they take money when your order not when they finally ship, and there is a risk they many have to suspemd their own web sales shipping.

Is why I am holding off until the week before release before ordering. Can check it's still being released on time and they are still shipping.

Although some of his work (like 1967's Casino Royale) was uncredited and the IMDB misses many of his credits (including his camera operator one on Passport to Shame), Roeg was one of Britain's finest cinematographers - so much so that after photographing the second unit on Lawrence of Arabia he was the original choice for Doctor Zhivago until he clashed with David Lean during the shoot and was replaced by Freddie Young (one of his mentors along with four time Oscar winner Joseph Ruttenberg). Far From the Madding Crowd may be the most beautifully photographed British film ever, especially if you're ever lucky enough to see a 35mm print on the big screen: I can't think of any other cinematographer who so perfectly captured the English landscape and the changing seasons.

It's the 1001 movies book. I've got a list of every title that's ever appeared. I'm over half way through it (about 550 titles). I work through it a few at a time, as and when I'm in the mood, or own the titles

My unwatched pile is slightly more, but because I may have a film more than once (ie different steelbook variants) then the actual total is lower. I have six unwatched Studio Ghibli films, but because I had bought the standard releases first and then collected the steelbooks after, that counts as twelve

Also quite a few of the unwatched Blu-rays are of films I've seen on DVD years ago, so I don't mark them as watched until I've seen the Blu-ray. The same goes for 4K as for example I've got all the MCU films on 4K steelbook and various multiple steelbooks but I have watched them on Blu-ray

I know for some it's heresy to talk dvd, however, I would love to see even a dvd release of Fairly Secret Army a 1980's comedy, written by David Nobbs and starring Geoffrey Palmer; sadly and undeservedly forgotten.

Given some of niche titles Network release you would think it could find a home with them. I know they probably don't have a deal with whoever owns the rights.
