The Goodies was even odder than that.

The original two DVD releases both had extras, and the second one also had a booklet and subtitles. Network then re-released both sets in 2010, adding in a booklet and subtitles to the first set but stripping all the extras from both of them at the same time.

Anyone wanting to pick them up now should check what they're buying very carefully.

So basically The Goodies DVD wise you'll need the following:

1) The Goodies... At Last (Original DVD)
2) The Goodies... At Last a Second Helping (Original DVD)
3) The Complete LWT Series
4) An Audience with The Goodies - Apparenty longer than the oversion in The Complete Collection release.
5) The Goodies: The Complete Collection (contains An Audience with The Goodies (2018))

Anyone know what the extras on The Complete Collection are? The site only lists the following with & more at the end. I assume this set doen't include any of the extras from At Last, Second Helping & LWT DVDs?

SPECIAL FEATURES (from the complete series set):
[] An Audience with The Goodies (2018)
[] Performance Archive
[] Interview Archive
[] and more!

I know the Book(s) & CD set from the LE Complete series release are available seperately.

I wish someone would release the following Goodies records on CD as well

Sing Songs From The Goodies
The New Goodies L.P.
Nothing To Do With Us!
Beastly Record

The Goodies Greatest
Best Of The Goodies
Greatest Hits

The standalone DVD of An Audience With The Goodies is twice as long as the one in the box set, despite that clearly not being how it was sold on the box set pre-order, where it was listed as a separate (complete) item as part of the bundle.

The current complete Goodies box also includes the LWT release from 2007 with all its extras - the only extras on the rest of the set are the Audience With cutdown.

Sounds similar to the Victoria Wood: Live in Your Own Home DVD release which is 33 mins shorter than the video release from the 90s. Why do companies bother doing that? At least Network released the UNCUT version of An Audience With Billy Connolly, albeit after their release of the CUT 50 min version.

Personally I would rather pay more to Network direct in order that we receive a full set. My greatest unfinished box set is that single season Sweeney set and I never want that to happen again.

The master tape of the uncut Live In Your Own Home is wiped - neither Pozzitive themselves or the Windmill Road archive has it. Only the TV edit survives, which is what came out on DVD. Very annoying.

Same is true of the extended Audience with Billy Connolly - no master tape exists of the long VHS edit. The DVD was taken off a tape source.

Here's the longer version of Victoria Wood: Live In Your Own Home.

Watched "The Lady vanishes" over the weekend, hilarious but liked "Sabotage" better. Hitchcock's early english films really are gems though, like them a lot more than his Hollywoodified films.

Also watched the Quiller memorandum, also from the sale, or tried to. It was warned earlier in this thread that the PQ wasn't great, but missed this. Think it now has the "honor" of worst transfer in my collection. The film itself is ok, with reasonable extras. Just will have to remember to check reviews of earlier blu rays.

The best release in terms of master is the Twilight Time. Those extras are also on the Carlton DVD.

Surely they could've done a composite DVD release. That way it would look better than what the cvurrent UNCUT DVD release is.

Some Gerry Anderson themed releases have been announced, but bloody hell, look at the prices of those first two.

Pass on all three. Its about time Network started releasing movies again, there must be 100's of British movies missing on blu, Carry On, Norman Widsom, Will Hay etc.

I’d probably have got those, but not at those mental prices. Eye-watering.

Whatever happened with their deal with Hammer? Thought we'd have had some releases by now.

Maybe the same as the Studiocanal deal? As in it never actually happened in the end?

Network has released hundreds of StudioCanal owned films.

No, I don’t mean Network’s licensing deal with Studiocanal. We had news a few years ago Hammer had a new distribution deal with Studiocanal. Nothing bore fruit. Now we have news of a deal with Network, which still hasn’t given us anything, but fingers crossed it hasn’t gone tits-up like the SC deal seemingly has.

Yeah, too right!

When they released my favourite POW escape film, Danger Within, a couple of years ago, I thought, yes! Keep 'em coming, but that was the last film I bought from them.

The Twilight Time is indeed a great release in its proper AR. I hung on to the substandard Netwok release for the location extras which I liked a lot.
