Far more important issues resulting from the demise of Network aside for a short moment, I wonder what will happen to The Sweeney series that was being teased recently? Or anything else they had planned for imminent release.

What happens to all the deals they had in place for content? Does it just expire and revert back to the rights holder(s) for licensing availability again?

It also makes me think what labels could possibly fill the void Network have left behind. I was only thinking yesterday about possible rescue missions but if anyone did step in to revive Network in some fashion, they'd be taking on a hell of a catalogue of content (and possibly massive solvency-related red tape). What boutiques have that sort of reserve to take on Network?

Someone mentioned ITVX earlier, maybe the existing catalogue will end up there, on some sort of subscription-based platform? Another mentioned Studio Canal, now there's a business that I imagine would have the cajones to swallow up and regurgitate Network's output.

Regardless, all that great content and hard work cannot be left to just disappear. Hopefully it reappears somewhere, even if subscription-based streaming is the solution we're given as the outcome, it's better than nothing I guess?

Portuguese Netflix has a huge dump of StudioCanal titles, many of which Network released. I would assume such a deal more likely in the UK than another boutique label stepping in.

This is very sad news, I've feasted on their releases of obscure British films for several years and we cheer each time Muir Mathieson's name pops up on the credits (seemingly every other film). Very sad news and I hope their staff fall on their feet.

No way in hell will streaming lovingly curate these with new transfers from the best available elements. With extras in many cases.

Network weren't perfect, but no one else has made such deep dives into British TV and Cinema on such a huge scale. Without them, we'd still be watching 80s transfers of Zoo Gang, if it ever got a release at all without them. Or Quatermass still stuck as 16mm transfers used for VHS. I could go on forever.

March 26 -- the Wayback Machine will jump dates sometimes if doesn't have a specific page, but the current archive's date is always at the top-right.

You can also navigate backwards using the arrow [hovering tells you how much earlier the closest crawl was] or to a specific date on the timeline. The barchart represents how significant the changes were during that particular capture, you'll see dates as you hover the bar chart. Click/tap to load a specific point on the timeline.

United Kingdom The Future of Potential Blu-ray Releases

When I heard about this being made official earlier this morning, I thought to myself about the future of potential blu-ray releases of Network's inventory.

The Sweeney Series 2-4
Minder
Dempsey and Makepeace
The Saint
Return of The Saint
Space Precinct

I also thought about which other TV shows could have acquired and released on DVD/blu-ray (if eligible for a blu-ray release).

Me and My Girl (Richard O'Sullivan)
Game for A Laugh
Metal Mickey Complete Series Boxset
The Two of Us Complete Series Boxset

Here's hoping that ITV considers the fans of what they want.

Don't forget that they announced they were restoring Danger Man 4 years ago. There must be some work done now not to see the light of day.

If I were you I'd suggest getting the ones you want now before they go OOP & up in price on fleabay.

I'm hoping a seller, that I see regularly, at the London Film Fair I go to will have some Network stuff I want but don't have yet at the next fair on 7th July. Will probably spend more time at his stall than I would normally do for obvious reasons.

Plus they have the TWM release of the Baron due out on 12th June. That was two TVMs each of two of the regular episodes edited together. A potential taster perhaps for a future full season release.

Assuming they were still on target for that date they must have got the content complete and it should have been at the replication of discs point. So those may be in limbo somewhere.

I had hoped that The New Avengers would get a blu ray release from them eventually. Thank you Network for the many great DVDs and Blu Ray titles I purchased from you over the years.

The moral of this story is, if you can afford to, pre-order and don't wait for sales.

We need to support our boutique labels. Use 'em or lose 'em.

I agree albeit there are so many titles coming out that we all want means we have to pick & chose.
