To be honest, I wasn't really aware of them. Their releases have been very UK-centric, content-wise, which means many of Network's titles are films and shows that are totally unknown here.

I did pre-order their release of Woman in Black as soon as it became possible, because that is one title I have been wanting to own for many years.

The other releases I have been somewhat interested in after that tended to be relegated to my bucket list. That is a consequence of so many labels now releasing stuff as limited editions. I have to prioritise releases that are in danger of disappearing fast and down-prioritise stuff that I will more easy be able to get later. Unfortunately, this of course comes back to haunt me now.

In an interesting turn of events "Official Gerry Anderson" have announced Space Patrol on blu-ray, openly a direct copy of the Network version.

One of those "Holier than thou" posts everybody just thinks "Bet he's fun at parties.."

Clearly a lot of us did. A LOT. But others haven't. Would you expect those of us who did have exactly what we want to post just to say "nothing to see here, don't need anything"? No. Clearly the people who wanted things but said "OK, later" - especially for a company that had such terrific sales -are going to be prevalent.

If you don't own all the things on your wishlist? Put the stones down.

How odd that their first release was a series Gerry Anderson DIDN'T work on.

It's got links though as Leigh and Anderson were former collaborators on their earlier works. Plus, marionettes in space.

Why this and not the other? I think it's just rights. They were probably able to purchase the complete package at a reasonable price from the administrators. I assume they now own Space Patrol, period. The ITC-produced Anderson shows will still be ITV-owned.

I'm gonna make a wild guess and say other likely contenders to make the switch may be Terrahawks, Dick Spanner, Lost Worlds of GA and Space Precinct. Perhaps the various documentary releases too.

Also Space Patrol was released by Network back in 2018 firstly as one of their online exclusives and then on general sale, so the Anderson shop may feel there is more demand for this than the other Anderson shows Network released on BD as they are more recent so may have less pent up demand.

I could see if ITV don't buy the HD restorations that Anderson shop buy the rights to all the Anderson shows Network restored. Think that's all on BD except Thunderbirds (restored by ITV but UK only ever got in 16.9 format) and UFO. Everything else like Captain Scarlet and Stingray was Network doing their own HD restorations but ITV owning the underlying rights so would need to be part of deal for any future release.

Even if Official Gerry Anderson were able to access the Network restorations they would still have to re negotiate the rights with ITV who I don't believe contributed, or showed any interest in the ITC restorations, but still own the rights.

Of the Anderson shows ITV only did Thunderbirds and UFO.

Default ITV owns the licence for all ITC

Yes, but ITV still owns the licence for all the ITC shows. Anyone purchasing any HD restored files would still have to negotiate with ITV to be able to release it.

Had no idea until a few minutes ago that anything was wrong. Went to their site to see what their upcoming titles were and saw the liquidation notice. Damn.

You missed the point.

ITV only own the HD files of UFO and Thunderbirds.

The ones Network did ITV would either need to buy from the liquidator so they own 100% or someone else buys the HD files from them and then that person needs to do a deal with ITV to licence them for release.

Indeed. Don't get me wrong - I love "Space Patrol." The DVD version included the surviving episode of "Adventures of Twizzle," which was Gerry Anderson - it's too bad that seems to have escaped the transition to blu-ray, even in SD.

Could it be because we are not the same person as you? I know you might have trouble with that concept, but life is funny like that, isn't it?

I also spoke at length to a business connection who is an ex banker who told me the big banks are forcing the closure of businesses they have lent to and are assuming they will never get their money back.

Neither conversation would be one I normally would concentrate on, but considering what happened to Network, I listened.

Of course I was only kidding, but I do have trouble focusing on discussions involving economics if it gets too convoluted so I admire your ability to follow it all. I am able to process math enough for normal everyday transactions and personal finances, but when it digs deep into more “global” issues I can get lost real fast.

Were any of the financial experts you spoke to able to say if Network's remaining stock could theoretically be for sale to consumers at some point?

If anyone can hook my up with a copy of this, I would really appreciate it.

It is still available to order from HMV (though I don't know whether they actually have any stock I do not know). Unfortunately, HMV does not ship outside UK.

The liquidators job will be to find as much cash as they can for the assets they have in order to pay off as many creditors as possible. Remaining stock will count as cash opportunity.
