Your right it was Indicator and not Arrow, well we can hope his ambition becomes reality.

I thought also that network where thinking about the gene Barry series "the adventurer" ( very much a guilty pleasure of mine) half hours of 26 episodes would have made a neat blu ray set lots of decent familiar faces and European locations.

I know, you want to see Gene's Safari jackets in all their HD glory!

It would be great to see The Adventurer restored as the current DVD picture quality is rather poor as is for Crime Writer, Playboy, Bon Viveur, Adventure Extraordinaire! - Jason King.

If I recall correctly, Tim Beddows talked about The Randall & Hopkirk taking a week to restore an episode. Given The Adventurer has the same number of episodes as Randall & Hopkirk, 26, but is approx 40% less running time per episode, if all things are equal, would be quicker to do.

Both these two series had similar vibes for me that and the fact they were shot in 16 mm
the clean up would have been nice to see.

I like The Adventurer a lot too. Great soundtrack too. Of course, it is by the numbers ITC, but I would rather that than a lot of what counts as entertainment these days.

I also think Network missed a trick not doing Jason King because they could have had a mega-box set of Dept S and JK called The Worlds of Jason King. They liked mega boxsets.

No, no, no to Gene Barry's safari jackets in HD. Things have moved on and we should be seeing those safari jackets and Barry Morse's sideburns in nothing less than 4K UHD.

Gene Bradley was never as satorially blessed as Jason King. Many moons ago I vaguely knew a guy who had a chunk of Jason's wardrobe.

the question of who provided the soundtrack to "the adventurer" was it Laurie Johnson ? I know it's a paul clay credited etc.

The Strange Report looks good on DVD, but The Adventurer and Jason King are much poorer, so restorations of TA and JK would see massive improvements. Another comparison among shows of the same period is like comparing The Professionals, pre-restoration, and Minder.

I suppose ITC's The Champions would be seen as having greater appeal and commercial return and there is already one episode restored, but I would choose TA and JK to get first attention.

I never thought Indicator would have any interest in British TV, possibly having so much cut out with their film releases, and it's early days, but as we know, if it happens, whatever is released will be to a very high standard.

With the films it would be great if Indicator did another Hammer set with The Quatermass Experiment, Quatermass 2, The X-Unknown, The Abominable Snowman.

Did the guy have that stupendous Jason King wig as well? That would be so cool and amazing if he did.

Paul Clay was mentored by Laurie Johnson and worked closely with him.

You will find many Paul Clay stings within the Thriller box set as well.

Anyone here have to deal with Returns to Network/itv? My Disc 4 of the Supercar Box-set won't play. I bought the set a while back, but I'm hopeful they'll, at least, let me buy the same disc.

Network no longer exist (they went out of business last year), there is literally no one to replace the disc. Your best bet is finding a cheap copy of the series from eBay or an online retailer.

A real gem of a film, with James Booth, Joan Collins, Kenneth Griffith released by Network back in 2016.

Chalkys are selling the DVD for just under £9.

There is a Blu-ray version, like new condition, going for a reasonable £18 or offers on ebay, not the usual £50+.

I can remember paying no more than £6 for mine in a sale on Network a few years back. A little gem of a film. Extremely underrated, and most certainly under appreciated. I can’t believe what some people are asking for it now on Blu-ray. Crazy!

I saw Revenge late one night on TV back in the early eighties and it remained very memorable. Fantastic atmosphere, you can smell the leaded petrol and sense the 1970s Winter chill. I never thought we would see it being released on physical media, yet Network did it in 2016. It is one of those out of print films I would consider having a back up copy of, but not at those scalper prices.

Maybe ViaVison/Imprint will release it or Indicator?

Quote:
Publicans Carol and Jim Radford learn that a reclusive local man suspected of raping and murdering their ten-year-old daughter has been released due to insufficient evidence. Heartbroken and hungry for vengeance, Jim hatches a chilling plan to force a confession from the suspect: abducting and imprisoning him in the pub's cellar, he will become judge, jury and – if necessary – executioner! -

Another Network release I like very much with James Booth is the 1967 film Robbery.

Quote:
Based on the planning and execution of criminal cause celebre the Great Train Robbery, this taut, meticulously researched drama stars Stanley Baker as a crime boss undertaking the heist of his career – with Frank Finlay and Barry Foster among the gang he assembles, and James Booth as the dogged detective who's determined to catch them all.

Revenge cost me the princely sum of £4.73 in 2018. I need to build a time machine, go back 6 years and buy a container load!

One wonders how much people knowing EVERY Network title would go down so low and within a year or so led to the financial issues. Their backer who passed on could subsidise losses but if those losses were, well, lesser? May have been more viable for a business saviour to come in.
