There's no new release on BluRay on Aug 28, while HD DVD has Blades of Glory and Heroes, both Day to Day with DVD..., so i expect it to be aroung 60/40...

Bit of early news:

Quote:
...week ending August 26.

On the high-definition disc front, "300" led both the HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc sales charts, according to Nielsen VideoScan First Alert data, while "Perfect Stranger" opened at No. 4 on the Blu-ray chart.

Anyone hazard to guess what we'll see tomorrow with the Nielsen numbers? Only 4 new releases and all Blu but not exactly big hits.

I think i'll go with 73% Blu-ray.

There is also the run on Paramount BD titles to consider...

Of course a few people went out and bought HD DVD players on the news as well.

I'll go with 70% Blu-ray.

Weekly numbers have been interesting over the summer, but coming upto Q4 with many releases each week, these next couple of weeks with lob sided releases aren't relevant.

If it was Lost vs Heroes, fine, but it's not.

HD-DVD could win one week, but Heroes is a title they cold really do with in October/November.

my guess is 53 / 47 due to the paramount shift, newly available blockbuster titles on hd dvd and the amazon sale. (those sales count toward nielsen right?)

...not to mention the absence of anything new in blu...

i mean if we float above 60 this week...following terrible news, terrible press, no new releases to combat hd dvd's heavy hitters, and sales at amazon that have hd dvd players and movies flying out of inventory like there's no tomorrow...if we stay above 60...then this is a very strong indication that hd dvd better surrender or face a horrible death.

Those release and the Amazon sale will be reflected in next week's Nielsen numbers. This week: 72-28 BLU (my guess)

I predict that HD-DVD will have gained a little due to the lack of Blu-ray releases, and the numbers reflected at Amazon... but just for this week.

Just give me a link when it is up please!

The Amazon sale will increase sales totals on both sides, a 10, even 100 point difference on Amazon won't amount to much in actual sales, maybe 100 or 1000 titles?

Next week if HD-DVD doesn't beat Blu-ray with Heroes etc., and no BD releases, it's in serious trouble.
