Relax, man I've been up since 5am. (7 :50am Now) I'm still not awake. But the numbers are unofficial right? I don't see them posted on the first page. You need to relax, man.

I haven't been up since 5 for black friday either, I actually am at work today...

I'm very relaxed. Sorry if my post seemed aggressive... it was'nt meant to be.
I'm just tired of predictions 5 minutes before the deadline... this thread on Friday's should be left clear for the actual numbers so people can find them easily instead of searching amongst a mess of last minute predictions... IMHO

I can live with that. And thanks for being civil. Sorry about the late predictions. I'll try to get it in sooner next week.

Yeah, I can live with that too. Especially considering the flood of HD-DVD A2s that got sold for $98 a couple of weeks ago.

Blu-ray won the week 66/34. Shrek The Third was the top seller, but only sold roughly half of what Ratatouille did in its first week of release.

Shrek 3 (base %): 100
Ratatouille Blu-ray: 50 +
Oceans 13 Blu-ray: 50
Oceans 13 HD-DVD: 33

Actually, the Rat sold higher than Ocean's, apparently.

Apparently there's people who get the numbers before us now.

And apparently it's 66:34, it's surprising that Shrek3 disappointed that badly, if the rumored numbers are true, we're talking about the 2nd highest gross of 2007 selling < 1/3 of TF, < 1/4 of 300-BD, it looks like the bogo this time was not even required. The blu team could have saved it for Bourne, which is by far the bigger threat now that TF is done and gone.

This is another piece of data that animation, no matter how good or bad (in this case) don't sell as well as the big action movies.

Now, on to Die Hard, or as they say in that neck of the woods, Yippeekaiyae!

Just got back from a local Walmart, and yegads the Blu-Rays are gone, all of them. They are also sold out of PS3s. That hidden sale seems to be working.

What the heck is going on at Amazon? There is only one Blu-ray in the top 100 (at 99-- Planet Earth) whereas there are like 10 or HD-DVDs in the top 100. If you look at the eproductwars site, Blu and HD have like swapped places on the graphs. Why the drastic drop in Blu sales and the increase in HD? I know Amazon doesn't affect the numbers a ton, but if this is a trend elsewhere it's worrisome...

I believe that what we're beginning to discover is that amazon is not always a true indicator of what's going on regarding the Nielsons. Also, amazon incorporates sale numbers that are ongoing; however, that's not indicative of when and what sells and then gets *shipped*. So, you see items on their Top Ten bestseller lists that have not even shipped because they aren't even available yet. It only counts when it ships (and is charged to your credit/debit card). I'm referring to pre-orders instead of actual shipments of orders.

They have lots of HD DVD freebies right now, rendering the charts useless.

If 66:34 holds true, then the Shrek Week will have passed by harmlessly. Nice.

This is good, a little more worried about the Bourne week, but I think Blu has enough solid releases around then to offset it.

Most of the best selling HD discs are the titles that are eligible for the 3 free movies offer with the purchase of a HD player.

They're freebies, but Amazon is counting them as sales.

I think becasue of the sale on the a3.

You buy an a3 and put 10 hd dvds in the cart and get the package for $199.
SO all ten discs get scanned.

That's right folks...you buy ten movies you get an A3 for free.

Toshiba has resorted to giving away players for free now that the $98 didnt seem to do much.

I hope so, I've been saying that for a year

We're starting to see the "piling" effect, it's just a major shame that WM isn't counted, it would have equalled or dwarf'd the Amazon sale, but then again, it does expose J6P to Blu quite well, and the stripped shelves are a good sign something is popular to them

I don't like this getting the numbers released early. I liked having all the anticipation waiting for them to come in...oh well life goes on.

Actually if you count the 5 free mail in, they are paying you to take them.
