Well, I did my part for the HP mini-war, I confirmed it this morning, WB has shipped my order of the boxset today, and they will hit my account with the charge in the next day or two. OOTP will be an interesting title to watch. I for one am not purchasing it seperately since I have the boxset coming, and I'm wondering how many BD owners out there are refusing to replace their DVD copies yet and will only be buying OOTP on BD.

Does anyone have the numbers on DH boxset and LFODH? I would suspect that HP boxset and OOTP would be similar in sales percentages between them...

Well I'm not refusing. My wife and I have been looking forward to all 5 movies on Blu since they were announced. Now if the package will just arrive....

Nah, it's only the top several HDM retailers. Warner will be looking at their own numbers though, they don't need Nielsen.

Another chart highlighting Blu-ray's dominance for Q4:

Total Q4 estimated volume to December 2nd:

Blu-ray = 1.1 million
HD DVD = 639,500

These are my estimates. Please feel free to come up with your own!

However, whatever numbers you feed into the weekly sales ratios, the shape of the above chart does not change.

I'm sure this is the sort of thing that has persuaded WB to side with Blu-ray exclusively.

How accurate am I?

Judith McCourt, of the research firm The Redhill Group, shared statistics that showed the news isn’t all bad for high-def. More than 7 million software units have been sold, and the dedicated hardware base is actually growing faster than that of DVD during its first two years, she said. In November, high-def software sales were past 1 million for the first time. And with 36% of U.S. households owning a high-def TV by the end of the year, the high-def software numbers will only go higher.

My estimate of SI HDM volume up to December 2, 2007 = 6,959,106.
My estimate of Nov.2007 HDM sales = 1,045,000

Looks good enough to me.

These figures are far more relevent than ratios, especially with big volume weeks.

He'll always give the figures a pro HD-DVD spin, it's about time someone from the BD camp played him at his own game and quit letting the HD-DVD camp win the pre Nielson PR battle.
Only in the minds of the red ants is a 69-31 LOSS a WIN...

I agree though, I think someone should talk a little smack before the numbers come out each week for BD.

Default Warner Bros Store Purchases?

1) Does Warner report sales to Nielsens?
2) If Yes, When does it get reported, at ship, or day of release?
Interested as I ordered the HP box set.

Doesn't count in the Nielsen's...but IMO that doesn't matter. Warner knows how many discs they sell.

If I'm not mistaken, only the largest HDM retailers report their sales to Nielsen,(BB, CC, Amazon) not the studios.

Just FYI, HD DVD is going to try out the BOGO thing:

http://forums.highdefdigest.com/showthread.php?t=29639

It's an equal opportunity BOGO though, at Best Buy (Blu Ray BOGOs too)

They don't understand that BOGO is to move catalog, not slash prices on your new releases

Hah, I hope that BOGO is 1) true and 2) the word gets out. If so, who in their right mind would buy Bourne Ultimatum this week?

How dumb can you possibly be. They put their only big release for the next 5 months in a BOGO sale 5 days after it is released. To funny.
