Norbit's sales shows a preference for Blu-ray. It's indexes are:
BD - 77.78
HD - 38.35 (take 82.27, PE HD DVD's index, and multiply by 0.4661, Norbit HD DVD's index as a percentage)

Please correct me if that is not accurate. If it is, look at this:
38.35 x 2 = 76.70
If all that is correct, then Norbit BD outsold its HD DVD counterpart by more than a 2:1 ratio. This would hint that the fire sale isn't doing too much. I know Norbit might not be the best title for this comparison, but it did pretty well at the box office.

Letters from Iwo Jima's index also shows two things: Preference for Blu-ray and the staying power of demand for Blu-ray over HD DVD.

Once again, correct me if those numbers are wrongly calculated.
nhaase is right (just some minor typo on a digit)
so mmm.. mmixing in the out-of-the-overall-top-ten extra hd dvd titles, gives them this %:

1. Apocalypto 100
2. POTC: DMC 98.55
3. POTC: CBP 84.33
4. Planet Earth 82.27
5. Norbit 77.78
6. Blood Diamond 74.95
7. Planet Earth 62.17
8. The Messengers 51.05
9. Casino Royale 44.44
10. Letters from Iwo Jima 38.65
?. Norbit 38.18
?. Ultimate Matrix 27.53
?. Letters from Iwo Jima 26.05
?. Complete Matrix 24.11

So Apocalipto +2 Pirates BDs sold, again, 5.5 times more than 3 Matrix hd dvds (and one animatrix dvd thrown in)
Thanks for looking over all of that, I was hoping somebody would check it, because it shows that HD DVD is just getting thrashed right now.

The best part is almost all of the blu-ray titles on top this week weren't part of the 2-1 sale. So Toshiba and Ms fans can't use that excuse.

June 3, which was more-or-less a dead release week for BR, and included an organized buy-day for HD-DVD and a player price drop, putting the lowest priced HD-DVD player at half of the nearest BR player:

June 10, which included the Sony 2-for-1 sale (although no titles from that sale were in the top 5 for sales of BR that week):

It must be so depressing to see these numbers week after week and be a HD-DVD supporter. I can't see how anyone can buy more HD-DVD discs or convince others that it is the winning format

The players are going to go out of warranty and no more will be sold. Where are they going to play their HD-DVD discs? This is just like Beta.

you would have thought with those firesales that the momentum would have shifted, at the very worst been even...but no, blu-ray is pounding them worse.

Wow..just wow.

I love how the graph Dave posted shows that BD was at about 30% until the PS3 debuted, then it took the lead, yet Graffeo (Universal man) said that people aren't using the PS3 for BD movie playback.

If we let Toshiba get by with their story of having a 60/40 advantage on standalone player sales, and let Graffeo be right that people aren't buying the PS3 for BD playback (which I do), then either the attach rate for BD is very high or people are just buying BDs to buy them.

This graph shows the PS3 effect.

Looks like it's time for HD DVD to start using the heavy FUDtillery.

I wonder how Dave's chart would look with it extended with "open space" to the right with a toilet sitting there in the direction the red "trend" line is headed? I guess the question is what would the "toilet point" be? 20%? 15%? Of course the HD-DVD fanboys are now starting to explain this trend by saying that HD-DVD player buyers rent their movies and Blu-ray player buyers buy their movies. So you can't win with those folk.

I think we should keep the charts from getting into HD DUD's hands. I would hate for these nice numbers to encourage FUD to buy more HD DVD movies (in an attempt to even things out) and prolong the war. Rather, let the numbers build and kill of HD DUD once and for all.
