4:1 - well that's anybodies guess and depends mostly on release dates - but I'm going to say the week ending 30 December 2007.

Also, is Toshiba going to cry uncle before or after the holiday season - or are they going to hold out for a few more months? Predictions?
I think the war will be officially over around this time next year..

No I am with you on this one, the Blockbuster announcement may be the straw that breaks the camels (or the mule in HD-DVDs case)back. I think its all over but the cryin now.

Its funny too because a really good friend of mine just bought an HD-DVD player and I went to his work the day the BB announcement was made(I didnt know he bought and HD-DVD player at the time) and you would have thought he was hit by a train when you saw the look on his face when I told him. I felt bad because I was so happy and didnt know he just threw his money away(he bought on Ebay so no refund)

I think all we are going to see now is a flood of BD sales and the steady decline of HD. I just cant figure out what Toshiba must be thinking right now...its kinda like you know its over but you cant just quit. Must suck

I think we'll see the first 3:1 week when Fox starts releasing again, hopefully soon. Along with this, the release of the long promised Warner Bros. titles.

I think you'll start seeing 80% 20% or maybe even more after the holiday season due to a plethora of Blu-ray standalones as well as the PS3 with its price cut. If not before the holiday, Universal will have but no choice to cave in afterward.

Around XMAS time, if Blu-ray studios can strategically release "good" titles around this time. We all know that blu-ray has the major blockbuster hits and qualilty titles. Instead of green and red, this XMAS should be green and blu.

I htink we'll see 4:1 the week Spider-man 3 is released as I have no doubt it will advertise the Blu-ray heavily on regular SD television.

Spidey 3 should be coming out around October.

i would expect more than that based on current level of player demand.

It would seem strange to me that BB news would affect the sales of HD DVD software.

After all people buying software have already made their choice...?

I guess it could indicate a lack of new player sales...

Am i right when i say that HD-DVD is based on the original DVD technology? same dimentions and such, if that is the case why would you base a new technology off or an old/or atleast dated technology and expect it to win over a brand new/cutting edge technology? Is that why HD DVD looks a little more grainy? This goes along with the weekly sales number post above.

Another possibiltiy is people might be starting to realize you can't watch the HD DVD PE on an HDTV and their standard dvd player.

There is something else about the HD DVD PE listing that may be slowing the sales. It now has a new warning:

Quote:
Region 2 encoding (This DVD will not play on most DVD players sold in the US or Canada [Region 1]. This item requires a region specific or multi-region DVD player and compatible TV. More about DVD formats.)

Very Good conclusion.

BD is killing the Movie theater experience and is killing HD-DUD

"It would seem strange to me that BB news would affect the sales of HD DVD software." Remember that old saying--- Don't throw good money after bad? Economically it makes sense for folks to "cut their losses" once they recognize they've made a bad decision. A lot of people are rational beings and think rationally. I suspect most of the current HD-DVD customers fit into that "bucket". We'll see.
