I believe this correlated to Casino Royale.

It is certainly the peak, regardless.

I looked up the magazine for that week and it is unclear where the weekly number came from, but I believe it is reported on AVS. The 69 you refer to was YTD for that week.
Ah yes, it was YTD, my bad.

74% is the highest number we've officially seen from Nielsen, but 82% on Casino Royale week, when HD DVD were in a month long dry spell, is not a stretch of the imagination at all.

I think the record will be set on December 14th with the week ending December 9th data. I think it will be 90:10 or higher when Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Superbad, Cast Away and Independence Day come out against Battlestar Galactica and......and.....no that's it; Battlestar Galactica.

Good night Irene.

You should get a Panasonic when the full profile one comes out.

Excellent equipment, extremely reliable.

Panasonic rules.

I do like Panny, and they are who I am waiting for to get their crap together. My trusty RP-62 has been rock solid since day one.

This week on HD has Evan Almighty and Twilight Zone.

Blu has:

Surf's Up
28 Weeks Later
28 Days Later
Reign Over Me
Robocop
The Fly
Edward Scissorhands
From Hell
Twilight Zone

I see numbers next week similar to this week.

May I ask why your on the blu ray site then? Sounds like your a HD-DVD supporter (which is fine), but I for one have had both good and bad (computer) experiences with the Sony Brand, but I back Blu Ray 100%.

Just don't bash the blu here please.

Yeah they have Evan Almighty but BR has residual sales of F42 along with 28 Weeks Later (excellent movie I might add), Surfs Up, and Reign Over Me. Not to mention all of the Fox catalog titles that were delayed last week will end up in this week (trust me, my stores I got them late so I'm guessing other customers would be in the same boat).

Evan Almighty is like BoG.....it will flop big time. I think there is a very good chance to hit 70% just by the amount of titles. All they have is Evan Almighty which traditionally Comedies don't sell very well and this one was horrible so it will sale even worse. 28 Weeks is a perfect horror flick that will sale to the highdef crowd. I'm going for a bloodbath and say 70:30 for this week.

Hey, I was close for last week...I said 70:30 and it ended up 68:32.

At least he has recourse to Panasonic for Blu-ray... Think of the people who refuse to buy Toshiba on principle or from bad experiences. A minority to be sure, but they can't get into HD-DVD at all. (Not that that's a tough break.)

Biased much?

That said I love my (compared to now extremely overpriced) Panasonic BD player. It is everything the Toshiba gen 1 players could have been and weren't.

Yeah, seems like it should do well especially since it has a broad audience.

I think all of the Pixar films will do well.

Pirates of the Caribbean 1 & 2 did well on Blu-ray without being day and date...

I imagine the Pixar stuff will do even better, since they should look just incredible and will have a lot of nifty interactivity...

I'll have to get the Pioneer. The look of the BD right above my DV-79AVi which is right above my VSX-94TXH will make HD DVDers flee from my home in fear.

I have all of those you mentioned on pre-order x 2. I'm buying extras for my niece who's father smartly bought a blu-ray player. I waited on Cars for it to come to Blu.

I can imagine plenty of the last two weeks releases sticking around for a while, not only due to delays, but the fact many people don't have the budget to buy more than a couple of titles per week.

maybe, maybe not. Remember that it'll have the buy1get1 sale at best buy and they are the biggest HDM mover right now that's also part of videoscan. I know that I've got about 4-5 movies I'm picking up this coming sunday there.

If they held copies of FF2 back, I would say it's at least 68:32 (probably 72:28).

I sure did put a lot of numbers out there!
I guess I got it right...kind of. 68:32

Pick them up Monday instead so they'll be counted in Nielsen's first Transformers Week.

At lunch time I went into the Woodlawn Maryland Best Buy and they had 7 regular shelving "units" (each about 4 to 4 1/2 feet wide) devoted to Blu-ray and only 4 shelving units for HD-DVD. Blu-ray also had a mini "stand-alone" shelving display for Blu-ray only. This location had previously always been 50%/50% between the two formats. So this is a big change. Getting ready of the two for one sale starting Sunday? Maybe. But anyhow, it looks like they'll have a plentiful supply of sales videos. So, if is possible for folks to do it, save your trip to Best Buy for this sale til Monday.
