There is also the whole BOGO thing. Thats atleast 2 titles sold right there per customer. Many people bought more than two titles. And nothing gets people into a store (or buying something they wouldnt usually buy, like catalogue titles) like a good sale.

And when you consider the bluray install base is so much bigger, it makes sense to think theirs a possibility that bluray will come close.

Also I just CANT take Paramount's word seriously anymore. It may be true, but Ill wait for more data before I believe those douchebags

HUH?? You're saying that Paramount had that press sheet made ready to release before release date?? Explain this to me and show me a link.

No, he's confused. The disc was released on Tuesday the 16th, and the press release was released on Monday the 22nd.

I'm sure this may have been answered before, but what retailers & on-line sellers are included in Nielsen?

Because 8 million people will not have already bought the DVD's by the time THIS Blu-ray disc is released.

300 on BD sales will be ahead of Transformers on HD DVD on a weekly basis by the middle of November I think.

HD DVD just don't got the install base, which is why it's doomed to fail miserably.

EDIT: OFFICIAL NIELSEN NUMBER FOR TRANSFORMERS WEEK - 51/49 - Blu for the win!

I guessed we would lose 44/56 even with the BOGOs.
Sometimes it's good to be wrong.

I'd like to give everyone here a pat on the back and say congrats! We did it!

Hey, Paramount, what's up with that 190,000 number?

The article says that Transformers on HD-DVD sold 115,000 copies. I said they would sell 100,000 the first week. I was pretty close...

Home Media Magazine: 51/49 BD/HD
http://www.homemediamagazine.com/index.cfm

Quote:
Paramount says Transformers sold 190,000 units its first week in stores, but Home Media Magazine market research and studio estimates puts the actual number of units that sold through to consumers closer to 115,000.
Looks like blu-ray maintains the edge. To end up with a 50/50 ratio (normally 65:35), the bogo titles must have sold at least 80k combined to offset the transformers release (80K:115K). The 40:60 BD/HD ratio (between BOGO & Transformers effect) would have been enough to drag the normal 65:35 ratio down to 50/50.

remember nilesen does not include walmart or online shops, except for amazon. however, the article did say that this was the studios numbers, so Paramounted***** are liars.
