How is this realization important? It means Warner, Universal and Paramount have now seen the Blu light, and Warner is probably the closest one to go. Universal is next. Paramount will have to be made to eat crow.

Agree, targeted PS3 marketing and decent prices will attract thousands of PS3 owners to Blu-ray.

Shrek, no. Bourne is their second biggest title but no where near as large as Transformers. I would put it about as big as Casino Royal, so that means just half of those sales.

It doesn't matter at this point. They just blew their biggest wad. We all know their movies all fall of the face of the earth after a week so expect TF to be done for from here on out. Now their only remaining hits will be dramatically overwhelmed by BD's blockbusters for the remainder of the year for 3 reasons:

1) We have more blockbusters coming out;
2) We have far bigger blockbusters coming out;
3) Blu-ray sales sustain infinitely longer than HD-DVD... these blockbusters will keep kicking them in the balls every week while their hits fade instantly.

I don't even have to mention the PS3 effect which might be the biggest factor of them all. BD needs to make a run at 70% YTD and 65% Incept-to-date. 4Q might be able to generate the volume to move the dial.

No. If you didn't feel like watching it a second time in the theaters, then you are more likely to wait for it in the discount bin.

The biggest thing about the latest BD win is that it prevents HD-DVD from getting lots of positive press about finally winning a week. If HD-DVD had won and the mainstream media ran a wire service article about how HD-DVD won, it could have given the perception to the general public that it was starting to win.

One thing that should give us pause though is that there were probably a lot more people buying HD-DVD last week. By that I mean there were over 100K unique Transformers buyers. With so many people buying multiple Blu-rays last week, the actual number of unique buyers was probably less than half that and conceivably a quarter of the HD-DVD number.

Harry Potter on Blu-ray will outsell Bourne on HD DVD and a good chuck of the Harry Potter on HD DVD sales.

Neither of these weeks are of concern at all - it's Blu-ray from here on out.

Wow, that Lee Stewart guy really is some pathetic loser!

According to him it took Blu-Ray 6 times the Hardware and BOGOF deals to win by 1% margin...

Then again, it took HD DVD paying off a studio to get Transformers exclusively, nearly FREE players and FREE movies to lose, AGAIN

Paramount is soooooo stupid. If they would have released TF on BD, they would have at least sold 250,000 units on just Blu alone.

Wicky, I agree with you man. If they cannot even beat us with their number 1 title, then how do they think they could ever beat us. To me, as win is a win. If we can win every week this year, I am going to be a happy camper.

Now back to ordering discs, my appetite has been sufficiently stimulated.

Both no. Shrek will bomb IMO

Bourne 3 is a good movie, and a lot of people will pick it up.

The only thing I didn't care for was the shaky cam crap they kept pulling.
