It's always next week with them. Now they are looking forward to 300 and all the extras which is going to blow BD away. After that fails, it'll be the Bourne movies, then something else...it never ends.

I have heard rumblings that due to unsatisfactory sales of the Matrix trilogy on HD DVD WB want to do a re-release but with the titles available separately as well as in the "Ultimate" boxset. Basically Blu-ray might not get the "Complete" set, but all the movies will be available separately and with 2 50GB discs available to them (each movie would be a two-disc set I suppose) they see no need for the "Complete" set.

This is all rumour though, afaik The Matrix is not going to see the light of day in BD until 2008 anyway.

Speaking of the 300 special features on the crap format, next week HM magazine should have some good comparison numbers of Blood Diamond's first week sales on each format, so we can see just how much special features play a role.

Couldn't care less about the Matrix. Was just using it as an example of the HD DVD rally cry from a few months ago.

If you are hearing rumblings of unsatisfacory sales though, that is interesting. Basically, WB has given HD DVD every possible chance to succeed. Now it's an "excuse" that Matrix movies should have been available separately and it would have sold better. What a joke.

Like someone said above...You cannot polish a turd.

I think this whole format war is proceeding faster than I imagined. I think the 3Q/4Q is going to be very, very ugly for HD DVD. With kjack stating that many companies are approaching Sigma about making bd players...this is all leading to a big Jan CES for BD hardware with Profile 1.1 and 2.0. I also don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that Universal will be on BD next year.

Comparing HD DVD vs BD on the basis of features is not very smart.

Most people don't have a choice - the choose the one that plays in their player! It doesn't matter if HD DVD has IME, if it won't play in your PS3, why would you even consider it an option...? And likewise for HD DVD only owners... though I guess there aren't as many of those as more go 'neutral'

Oh yeah, great to see SI at 60:40 - that means BD over time is doing better than 60:40 since SI lags reality somewhat.

Hi to ALL,

I'm very happy again to see this great news coming a week after week.I dont know what HD-DUD are thinking of and still counting on a product which has been lost money day after day .especially if a player would sell well not only we have to decrease the cost and give them a lot of freak promotion but a real performance.BD is the real superior format with special features or without.

PCM SOUNDTARCK was a superior in itself.
every reviewer watch BD and listen to PCM superiority is really impressed.

PQ wise is superior too even someone is going to tell me NO.WRONG

why BUENA VISTA SONY PARAMOUNT LIONSGATE are using higher bit rate codec if it doesnt matter in PQ as HD_DUD says and it will keep saying lies.

PS3 has been playing a big role in this format war and SONY did well in introducing a BLU-RAY player inside it.

Congratulations to all Blu-Ray fans around the world

These are numbers that include sales of 2 neutral BDs vs 14 hd dvds (10 new exclusives, 2 exclusive rereleases, and 2 neutrals) (the same 2 neutrals on BD) and BD vs HD DVD sales went from 70/30 to 65/35?
See you next week

LMAO! This weeks response to the numbers by AVS was to close the Nielsen thread

Very true, it's just that when Blood Diamond was announced for both formats they said that HD DVD would have additional features. So, if those features really matter, it could be guessed that some people could hold off buying the BD version until these features are available in another edition.

Wow this is astonishing news. So all those discs they released for HDDVD didn't do much. That's another HDDVD fangirl argument out the window since they kept saying the reason Blu-ray was winning was because of the bigger number of releases. Talk about a massacre!!

I read this and thought about going over but then it came to me -
I could care less what's going on over there.

I am free of that place now. Every time someone visits they are giving them money. So stop going.

Yep, you can thank rdjam for that, with his sole blathering trying to talk HD-DUD's way out of last week total embarassment. He got called out on it and was so owned and then things started to go downhill. Even HD diehards like midnightwatcher and hmurchison know where they are beat and stay out of the sale threads, but not rdjam

It looks like it just may be a time out lock, so hopefully it will be back.

OK, that really is shocking. I was expecting a slight win for HD DVD.

Note to self: Don't undestimate the power of Blu.

P.S. SI hits 60/40!

If you guys stop posting on AVS then all the ignorant HDDVD fangirls will take over and brainwash every newcomer to the site that they should buy HDDVD. Basically, you are doing exactly what they want. We need people over there to keep the balance and combat the lies and FUD.
