Good point. The 71:29 includes the sales generated by the A2 sale.

That makes the numbers much more interesting!

looking at the break down, if sony only releases spiderman three with no trilogy, wed be looking at probably a 230,000 disc seller. That would have been nice to tout in the new! Great week though

I think it's safe to say that true movie buffs are supporting Blu. That's why Blu-ray beats out HD DVD consistently (and decidedly for that matter) when it comes down to Warner titles available on both formats. I also wonder how many true "nuetral" supporters are out there. By that, I mean those that just want the best available, regardless of how many players they have to buy to play their movies. But I digress. The point here is that those that buy their movies (rather than rent) are more-than-likely, as an early adopter, to do their homework, and which is why that while Blu-ray may not have sold as many players as HD DVD, they're outselling them in discs by a large margin. Simply put: the AV buff wants the best, and is buying it. For whatever is not available to them in their format of choice, they either decide for second best, or, as it appears to be mor the case, not at all. Anyone care to argue the point?

well, hard to say. i know some people bought the box set more for spidey 1 and 2... kind of muddies the waters in terms of whether they would have bought spidey 3 by itself.

regardless, WHO CARES. a thorough asswhuppin for HD DVD even considering their desperation fire sale.

AWESOME! Even with all of the "freebies" BLU ruled! 9 out of 10 HDs are Blu-ray!Check out The Warner Titles, even with everybody buying Spider-Man:
300 Blu-ray 4.24 and 300 HD dVD 2.71
License to Wed Blu-ray 4.24 and HD DVD 2.71
The Shinning Blu-ray 4.11 and HD DVD 2.71

HD DVD was OWNED on all fronts

On the Warner front:

300 1.71:1 for Blu
2001 sold almost exactly equally between Blu and HD-DVD. (1.004:1 in favor of Blu) Not bad considering 2001 still seems to be having supply issues.

I was about to post that if it had not been for fact that I could get Spidey 1,2 along with 3, I would have delayed my purchase till the time I could

I can only imagine what will happen next week. All the new 40gb PS3's....ratty, cars, the shorts, spidey residuals.......not to mention people having to pay $299 for the A3 to walk out with 3 scanned movies....no A2 firesale.....boy, base don these variables im going to have to say anything less than 80:20 is a huge disappointment, personally.

Bd is just going to coast, once these titles start rolling out its just going to overwhelm HD DVD software....seriously, theres just no hiding....they get to come up for one breath of air on the 27th, but after that.....damn, onslaught is an understatement with BD's December lineup plus the PS3 holiday sales not to mention people going back to pick up Ratty, cars, the first 2 pirates to go with their third...holy cow, this is going to be fun.

my math says blu outsold HD 5k to 3.2k for 2001:S.O. 300 looks ike 8.5k to 5k, and i cant do license to wed b/c it's not on the chart for HD, but blu sold 5.5k to less than 5k for HD (the lowest known # on HD's list).

edit: i screwed up 2001, it is pretty even for that title.

indeed.

toshiba has definitely established a new minimum price for their players too (aka $99) which means that i suspect their SA players going forward are going to drop precipitously as bargain shoppers wait for the next fire sale.

next week's numbers are going to hurt a lot for the red ants.

The only numbers I really care about are the Warner sales because they acurately portray the advantage to Blu-Ray. This week was fantastic as every Warner title outsold it's HD DVD counterpart by a large margin (except for 2001 Space Odyssey which basically sold even).

Keep it up guys, the key is to support Warner as we have the biggest chance of swaying them.
