My guess is 80:20.

Hd dvd doesn't really have anything to move the numbers in their favor, except for the 90k or whatever hd dvd players. It really didn't sway anything last week, and I doubt it will this week too. The positive effect of "The Rat" and BOGO startup should far outweigh that.

Although I'm hoping that we blow HD DUD away this week, I'm actually going to put 65:35...it's a good round number and if it does happen that they get pushed off the map, I'll be celebrating.

I'll go 74:26 -- That way if Blu actually wins 3:1 (75:25) I can feign shock.

+1 isn't out of the question this week. It is volume, or lack there of that has kept the YTD number from moving. The last two weeks have been very high volume weeks. I think this week (pixar week) probably sold more units than spider week.

In a related note rdjam posted this not too long ago.

Absolutely fantastic showing by HD DVD! Next week may be closer to 62:38, but the trend is very clear - HD DVD is catching up to Bluray in software sales. Where is that 3 to 1 sales ratio now? Answer, you;ll *never* see it again...
I guess he could be right, we might skip the 3 to 1 ratio and go straight to 4 to 1. Friday's numbers are going to be interesting.

Here's an interesting article that delves into the HDM format war as well as touching on the importance of the upcoming Black Friday sales. It also mentions something else of interest that should prove very informational.

Quote:
Find out what happened by attending the 2007 Black Friday Results and 2008 Outlook Webinar on December 7, featuring detailed analysis of the week's performance by analysts from DisplaySearch and NPD. Both CE and PC industries will be covered, reviewing what happened the week of Black Friday and the potential impact on Q4'07 and Q1'08 sales and beyond.

I'm just going to assume 120k for Rat because it's a nice round number which also happens to be the refresh rate of my new TV (Sony KDL-46XBR4). With the BTGT$O (buy two get ten dollars off) sale going on everywhere, it dragged in a bunch of Cars or Pixar Shorts with it. I'm assuming half the people took advantage of it, so that's 60k for C+P (and maybe Meet the Robinsons, it doesn't matter which movie).

SM3 was 130k and TF was 24k last week so I'm just going to halve them both. Add the regular 90k base for BD and 60k base for HD, sprinkle about 10k more for HD for the new players and stuff, and we'll have 335k (90k base + 120k Rat + 60k C+P + 65k SM3+Tri) vs 82k (60k base + 12k TF + 10k misc) for a nice round

80:20

prediction.

enjoy

I'm French, so I'm not familiar with these numbers.
I was under the impression that Blu-ray dominated strongly in movies sales everywhere but not in the USA. I thought it's be 55/45 at best, but seeing 64/36 in favor of Blu-ray in USA I can't believe the war is not over yet ... Toshiba has other ways to win money so why make the consumer the loser any longer?

Did my part for the numbers last night, I got 6 BOGO titles and also preordered Die Hard 4 and Pirates 3!! My question is this: When will Die Hard 4 and Pirates 3 show up on the Neilsen??? Will they show up this week because I purchased them then, or will it be when they are released as that is when my card is charged? I don't know that anyone knows for sure but any insight is appreciated

That's the irony. As others have already posted, people are going to get screwed at whatever point the complete death of HD-DVD occurs. They might as well make it as soon as possible--a mercy killing, quick and relatively painless. The longer Tosh waits, the more poor souls are going to suffer and waste their money; and Tosh will be losing more money than they already have.
