Wal-Mart only, but considering most had thought Wal-Mart pushed 60k that week...it raises an eyebrow.

From the article:

A little known fact is that of the 30,000 HD DVD players sold by Wal-Mart, 30% of them were connected to the internet shortly after purchase.

So many things are right, the advertising, software line-up, PS3, BOGO's...........cheaper players are the missing link that should make everything click, they can't come soon enough.
I am sure only winning by 35% has the BDA holding an emergency meeting as we speak...

No idea, the guy quoted sounded like he was from some HD DVD group.

Disappointed in the ratio, I'm thinking both formats are gaining enough sales that new releases are having less & less an impact on ratios. Looks like it may hover around 60:40 the rest of the year, little more with big Blu-ray releases, little less with big HD DVD releases.

I'm surprised no one is talking about how big a ratio lead Rat had. the next highest was 35.98. That's a pretty big lead on other titles.

Yes, and it also said that their employees were not educated abou the two formats ( Very Surprising ) And as I have been saying all this time they have a few movies, but nothing that would move enough stock to change the Nielsen numbers. Of course the HD DVD fanboys are probably celebrating this week since they didn't totally get stomped. Also by reading this they are now thinkinging tha HMM must be biased toward Blu-Ray.

Paramount's decision gave a boost in exclusive titles for HD-DVD, but the effect on YTD hasn't been very big, sofar is has secured them status que.

It's going to be exciting so see how movies each format will sell during December

I wouldn't be surprised if they said that. Typical fanboy speak. Any site that discredits your format of choice is claimed to be biased.

Just a suggestion, Iron Man: Wouldn't this graph look better if Blu were on top?

The first movie had top dollar audio on DVD with DTS, can't imagine what it will sound like with uncompressed audio.

all this war is doing is hurting the general public.
You're right: this war is hurting the consumer (and the industry). Having all studios release on both formats would only prolong it! (Besides, some Blu studios have certain non-negotiable requirements that HD DVD can't offer, ergo they'll not support HD DVD.)

If we assume 300-BD sold roughly same as last week 4800 (perhaps slightly lower), this is what I got for estimates of units sold.

Code:
Rat 57604
Spidey3 20150
Cars 17828
TF 15000
Chuck&Larry 11244
SpideyBox 8859
Pixar 6659
KU 4914
300-BD 4453
Robinsons 4378
300-HD 2085
A couple of highlights, Spidey3 would sell only 29,000 total this week with box included making it a drop to < 25% of last week's. TF fades to around 15k, Rat didn't do extremely crazy well, but at 57k is still the best selling animation ever. No animation disk sold more than Rat! even those that were released early last year like IceAge II, Happy Feet, Rat beat them all.

Meet the Robinson's looks like a blip from Rat buyers picking up more disney titles with cars and pixar collection. This is pixar's week, they sold more than 86k BDs this week (my estimate).

Welcome to BD, Pixar.

Yes, it is up against 100K HD sold, but lets not forget that PS3 sales surpassed that as well last week. These ps3's are not translating in more Blu sales.

You answered your own question.
The war is hurting the general public and they refuse to get involved until there is one winner.
When a studio is neutral they spend more money having to do two different versions of the movie to take advantage of each format. ( If you are lucky).
Unfortunately alot of times they will instead half ass it and just port from one to the other which results in sub par releases. ( Ask gamers how enjoyable this is ).
Neutral is hd-dvds new "win" strategy.

People are looking at these numbers all wrong. The Rat sold pretty much what I expected it to sell given the state of the market right now. The average 18 year old kid with a PS3 simply has no interest in purchasing a family oriented film. What is surprising though was two big disappointments. It's apparent that many purchasers of Ratatoiulle simply passed over Cars. I guess there are many that are simply content with upscaling their Cars dvd. Another big shock is the huge drop in Spider-man 3 sales. It's clear that popular perception of that movie(rightly or wrongly) has hurt its demand. This is a movie that made basically the same amount of box office as Transformers but its getting trounced in head to head sales comparisons(adjusting for installed player base, length of time released to home video, etc) to it. The Spider-man 3 drop is the reason we didn't take this week 75-25 or higher.
