Good news. Just think how great the following week is going to look. It's all downhill from here.

If Warner was really worried about "inferior" version where are Blu Rays bit rates and uncompressed audio?
AMEN.

@ The Shrike - the point I think that you are missing here is that for people who want the gimmicky, interactive features that raise the prices of players there should be some players on the market that are optimized for this and can be purchased at increased cost.
For those of us who are strictly movie lovers and don't want superimposed directors droning on about their decisions, or online stores trying to market t-shirts and coffee mugs, we should be able to purchase players without the added expenditures necessary to allow the supposed free extra features.

I said I wasn't going to be concerned with Nielson numbers again, but when you used that emo ,

I thought, damn, they've won ONE week.

Can't believe they were humbled so easily.

Q1 '08 is going to be 70-30+ every week!

how reliable is this guy? I hope that he's correct; that would definitely be a punch in the gut to the dud. BOGO, sub $200 players and still no win? I thought those buyers would have purchased tons of movies with such a *high* attach rate.

Unless something major changes, HD DVD will never get close to winning a week every again. Transformers was the only shot. 61-39 with that immense HD DVD bogo on, next week is going to be a slaughter of mammoth proportions.

With numbers, he's right down to the exact, if you trace his threads.

Wow yeah, where was the Amazon BOGO effect? But truly not surprised at all if people have been going to best buys and other B&M retailers and see how many people actually take interest in/buy blu vs HD DVD.

The Kingdom was released two days before Rush Hour 3. The Amazon BOGO, and still HD DVd get OWNED ...This week's numbers are going to be awesome. Has anybody seen the January exclusive releases for Blu and HD DVD? I believe that there are NO notable exclusive day and date with DVD releases for red in the entire month of January! Exclusive day and date releases for Blu: War, Resident Evil Extinction, Shoot 'Em Up, 3:10 to Yuma, Dragon Wars, Sunshine, Good Luck Chuck, Mr. Woodcock, The Game Plan, Saw IV, King of California, and Daddy Day Camp. How would like to be an HD DVd owner now?

61% - 39%!!! I am speechless. And I worried about this week?

If Warner doesn't make a decision to go Blu-ray exclusive, they are more stupid than a bucket of toad turds.

Reminds me of the scene in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, where Angelina Jolie calls Brad Pitt a pu**y.

Poor ants. They really got it handed to 'em this week as well. Thought I'd feel some sort of sorrow for them, but I don't.

Oh, and it's awfully quiet in the thread at the "other" place. Could hear a pin drop (or is it a shoe drop?).

Possibly a pants-drop? I'm sure some of them have some wagers they have to settle. And I'd certainly never take a canoe trip through there....

61:39 three weeks in a row...

Did someone say there was a format war going on? At 53 weeks (or more) in a row now, this is not a war, it's a minor inconvenience.

...I agree. It seems Toshiba is trying its very best to go bankrupt though.
