If the number 75 - 25 holds up, then my guess is correct. Which unfortunately means that the red team has been gaining on our team for the last 3 or maybe even 4 weeks. Not huge gains, but non the less, gains and a trend? One week, no, two weeks no, but more than three?

Certainly I am not going to panic nor will anyone else, once the end of May is here, game over.

If 75%-25% is the result, you have the Best Buy HD DVD BOGO to thank for that. The results that will be announced Friday will include Mon-Sat of the HD DVD Best Buy BOGO. They will get TROUNCED once again next week... Trust me on that

It may not be soon, it may not even be by early summer; but it will occur eventually: Any HD DVD purchases are going to be regretted at some point when those same titles appear in far better versions in Blu. And, because they've now known for a few weeks that this war is winding down and their side lost, anyone who buys Red at this stage is totally responsible for this stubborn action. A BOGO might lessen the cost, but it's still a wasteful purchase, regardless.

I am still hoping it will remain in the 80s. If it drops down to the 70s, perhaps we should organize a Blu-ray Buy-a-thon again to boost sales back up.
Either way, Blu-ray is still in the lead by a lot, and HD DVD numbers will fluctuate as sales and desperate moves by HD DVD PRG occur.
But Blu will win in the end regardless. No doubt about it. Imagine the numbers when WB does drop HD DVD (in June). Who is going to want to buy HD DVDs when WB, NewLine, HBO, etc. etc. etc. are no longer releasing to it?

We're gathering our strength, conserving our efforts and energies and resources, so as to strike hard--and finally--on March 11, to totally bury the Reds 95-5.

Making the assumption it is 75:25, it will be interesting to see if AG makes 'predictions' in the future when BD's share goes back up above 80%.

Anyway, you have to laugh if people are now considering a 25% market share a decent result for HD DVD.

Let's see what HMM reveal on Friday.

Here's a little chart that illustrates the first 3 weeks of January for HDM hardware and software. Hopefully self explanatory.

Why should it be, they've had a week with a massive BOGO sale which likely gained them 5 points.

Following weeks would go back to 80+, then imploed once Warner leaves.

I thought the effect of that wouldn't be until next Friday's numbers? When did the Amazon sale start?

Edit: From what I can see the Amazon Uni sale didn't start until Feb 3rd (Sunday), so there should be one day of that sale reflected in this week's numbers.

Dammit! Meant to edit my post above. Sorry folks.

The relevant BOGO that will influence Friday's numbers is the Best Buy HD DVD BOGO (Mon-Sat of the BOGO week are reflected in this Friday's Nilese Video Scan numbers).

I was just responding to Joe Cain's question regarding the Amazon sale. I agree that the BOGO at Best Buy (6 days of the week) will effect the HD DVD numbers more than the Amazon sale. I still think the numbers for HD DVD won't break 20% though. The HD DVD "price drop hype" is long since over. The majority of folks participating in any BOGOs at this point will be the folks that are already heavily "invested" into HD DVD, IMO.
