The implications are shocking.

If we are to accept the premise:
1. A sucker is born every minute

And that the population of the earth is approx. 6, 649, 303, 503
Then either:

1. The average lifespan of humans is 41 times longer than evidence suggests.
2. We haven't won the format war until the numbers are 99.5: 0.5
3. A sucker is actually born approximately every 1.42 seconds

Not too bad really. And if HMM rounded the numbers fairly then we would have seen a 75:25 result this week.
Yes but you forget this site is full pansies which run for cover when things arn't 110%. As much as I hate hd dvd I really admire they're delusional optimism of they're supporters.

I'm not very good at math, but isn't it 80 and not 85?

3 to 1 sales ratio and against a BOGO sale. Still in great shape. Don't forget 4 weeks ago when we had 76:24 that was the highest ratio to date. Then we had 85, 83, 82, and now 74. Still in great great shape.

I agree...considering an HD BOGO thats excellent for Blu.

I wish Paramount would hurry up and switch sides...death of HD is imminent. And for Crying out loud WB hurry up and drop HD support so you can make some decent transfers.

The top 5 HD DVD's were apart of the BB BOGO. rest easy fellas. Remember what a BOGO did to help Blu against the likes of Transformers. They work wonders

Default Buy-a-thon

I say we band together and do a buy-a-thon THIS WEEK. Anyone else up for it?? 76/24 is unacceptable.

Appreciate your good intentions, but I am confident that next week's number will be 80%+ The last Buy A Thon created a lot of friction for whatever reason.

Remember, Blu-ray's are high right now with no good sales going on. HD-DVD is having a lot of clearing out of stock before it's really too late to get rid of them.

I don't know why. I plan on buying one this week. I haven't been able to buy many lately, so I will buy at least one and do it at Best Buy or Circuit City. I really believe in supporting the B&M stores. And if anyone has a problem with that; well---- and let's all be blu.

no, 2007 and 2008 are two different animals..

and I don't see anyone flipping out...I just don't see any reason why they should have even 20%, let alone 25%....

no, the distance between 85 and 90 is the same as 70 and 85...it's hard to go up than it is down (obviously)..

but with the install base of HD DVD shrinking and Blu gaining exponentially...we should have 80% on a bad week at this point...

If we were to do a Buy-a-thon, it would HAVE to be scheduled longer than a week in advanced. The last one was known for more than a month. I suggest we come up with a date in a month or so, that will coincide with a big BD release as well (or HD DVD release to counter their sales).
So plan ahead.

I would be down for this if there is a BOGO going on as well. Other than that I already pre-ordered a bunch of titles for the next month.

As much as I'd like to participate I got my fare share of Blu this week, I bought:
Cars
Led Zepellin: The song remains the same
3:10 to Yuma
AC/DC Live At Donington
Pixar Shorts
Life of Brian

so I am done.

It'll catch up again, don't you worry!!
See all those sales going on for HD DVDs, and the remaining supporters trying still very hard to not lose this war, so they'll spend some extra cash to show their lost love.

Unfortunately true (). And, then it will be an endless series of posts complaining that the BDA aren't doing enough. In other words, they tend to ultimately blame the Blu side for a lack of closure.

HD DVD went into things the underdog, and a certain element have always backed it for that reason (or a blind hatred of Sony), and not out of any particular love of HDM.

The unfortunate reality of the underdog psychology is that underdog's followers are far easier to please than the leader's followers.
