Hmm, interesting and I agree. I think the data on page HD16-17 toward the end of this week's publication is evern more telling of the disaster that is HD DVD. Anyone see it yet?

I think so. 68% is with the flood of people going out to buy Paramount movies before they disappear.

I’m sure that will die down a bit next week. I think next week will be interesting.

We wont have any releases going up against BOG and Heroes S1. That week will probably be in the Mid – low 60’s.

After that week it will be clear sailing.

Anyone see the mad marketing that Fox is doing to promote FF2! That will get BluRay out in the public eye even more! (page 46)

No doubt there! Only ONE HD DVD exlusive in the top 20 AGGREGATE BY TITLE, and it is coming to BluRay thanks to Warner!

I like the Warner add toward the very back emphasizing neutrality. So much for them going HD DVD exclusive.

This week's numbers included that (YAWN). That happened at the beginning of last week.

Next week's numbers will include the zero new release week for Blu-ray versus Heroes and Blades of Glory, and the Amazon sale.

#4 for Black Hawk Down? Last week must have been pretty quiet.

Pages 16-17 of the additional section at the back. There is a special HD Media section after the standard issue.

Sorry, I just dont buy that JQ Public pays any attention at all. They probably didnt even hear about it. I doubt (IMO) a "rush" to buy Paramount titles accounted for anything. Paramount didnt even crack top 10 did it? I think 17th was the best they did.

Gary
crunchywyte has a post above that mentioned the price of BHD was $13.99 at Bestbuy. BB had lots of BDs for very low prices.

Are the current stats against the week when there were just 4 new blu-ray releases and no HD-DVD releases?

Immortal beloved
The Lives of Others
National Lampoon's Van Wilder
Perfect Stranger

With just Perfect stranger getting into the top 10. I would have thought that the Paramount decision that week would of had little effect bearing in mind they didn't release anything. There was no need for HD-DVD owners to go out and buy any, yet from the comments on here some went out and bought alot, while others boycotted them.

Surely with such a dull week for HD-DVD the figures are little disapointing for blu-ray IMHO.

It's a pleasant surprise, but I have to say, this does surprise me. The Matrix on HD-DVD sold under 27,000 copies and is not even in the top 20? Only _one_ HD-DVD title broke 50,000??!!! BD sales too are very low but HD-DVD are almost nonexistent.

I think those numbers proves one thing, it will be stand-alone players that win this war, not the PS3. If there's an installed user base of blu-ray capable players out there in the region 10:1, sales of 2:1 must be a little disappointing don't you think?

None of those 4 are exactly unit pushers. As you mentioned, they aren't even Top 10 titles for the week, so what are you talking about? The edge clearly came from existing titles.
