Luckily we don't use Sony Math
Actually that is HD DVD math. They created to tout the success of The Matrix on HD DVD. Sony touted they're taking in more money than HD DVD as well as selling more stand alones in the past few months and the error was completely on MS fanboys inability to read and comprehend.

The chart in the Sony conference clearly shows Units sales.

Anyone who thinks it is revenue is simply mistaken.

If Paramount had not gotten paid off, BoG on BD would be #2 and Shooter would be on that list somewhere.

The YTD/SI is far more important than this week's number. But keep lookin' at the week's number next week 'cuz that will influence YTD/SI. I echo others that say Heroes will drop off the top 10 list.

Chin up guys. Great releases are coming on BD.

I was referring to a previous posters sarky use of "Toshiba Math", although I'm not sure what it refers to. Sony did use revenue numbers for their 63% of the player market comment at IFA, which is not the same as the Sony talk showing them selling more units a week for the recent past.

Pretty decent results this week though. I was surprised HD didn't do better, although not that surprised. Proves that no single title will win the war, for either side.

Here is some Toshiba math:
When calculating attach rates Toshiba counts the PS3, when it talks about players in households, they do not count the PS3. That's just one example.

I'm wondering if you caught the sarcasm earlier from BTBuck1?

Can anybody tell me if all the replacements for defective copies of Heroes are counted towards these numbers? There's a lot of people out there on their 2nd or 3rd box set trying to get one that'll play without freezing. Do those count as another "sale" when they're returned to B&M stores?

If they're like 360s at Best Buy they probably do.

I would think a return would count as a wash if they did an exchange. If they just returned to get their money back then I think that would count as a no sale for the returned item, or a -1 counted toward overall sales of the item.

It's called perspective.

Did someone say 56 : 44? Did I get that right? 56 : 44? It's the first I've seen it. Is that what just happened ending on Sept. 2? 56 : 44? Hey don't you think that's awesome? Can't you here FOX getting ready to have another press conference?
" UH/ Well....UH. It's not ...uh...what....uh uh. When we made those announcements about BD and HD-DVD we were uh, ...well um...anyone see the Disney group? Anywhere? I'll be right back." Exit stage right.

One studio makes a switch and goes HD and it's a 20 point swing? Pretty cool don't you think. One more studio goes exclusive HD and blu will start to head on up that long road to "beta-mini-disc" heaven.

Predict away boys, HD just turned on the lights.

I almost want to create an account at AVS just to let this guy know just how much of a moron he is.

With the studio support for both formats as it is now, it sure looks to me like most weeks are going to be around 60% - 40% Blu-ray winning. This last week was a little worse than that and next week should be a little better, but the domination week after week at 2-1 ended with the Paramount defection. Until things change again, that is just the way it is likely to run.

Got to disagree with you. Towards the end of the year I think we will see plenty of 2:1 or greater advantages. The next month or so may be lean though.

I disagree. Paramount released, what, 33 titles in 15 months or so? How many of these were really big sellers?

I'm not saying it won't have an impact. Especially Transformers and Shrek 3. But at the end of the day, BD just has so many more and better titles coming that there's really no way the previous ratios will drop more than a few percentage points longer term (if at all).

You know what will cause more damage? Previously BLU exclusive people panicking and going neutral and loading up on previously released Universal titles.

Patience people...

Yes, only 33 movies including DreamWorks and the latest Blaze of Glory.

Winning this week's Nielsen's without any BD releases was like winning a battle without firing a single shot.

I think there will be quite a few HD-DVD exclusive people going neutral for Spiderman and other BD blockbusters as well.
