Speaking of which, whatever happened to the "We are going to have 800 titles by the end of the year?"
reporter mistake. A slide showed all the movies available by month for 2006 and the reporter added them all together and said 800 will be released in 2007

I have looked at the upcoming releases for both formats, and I truly have a "very nice feeling". It is just so funny sometimes I was checking out e-productwars to see the Amazon rankings (we know of all of the FUD posted there). There was a link to an article claiming that Sony's stock was down 15%. I clicked on the link, and to my surprise it was a legitimate article. However, as I was reading the first paragraph, I glanced at the top of the article where the name of the author and the date of the article was indicated. The article was from 2003 Incredible this DUDers!

I hope that the general public is starting to understand the FUD that is spread around amazon daily.

I'm predicting 60:40. Maybe more. I hope we see increase in year to date sale. People like me with limited favourite genre will not buy anything from this or last week, but will buy a lot on 18 sept and 2 oct

Nielsen First Alert data only tracks 5 major national retailers, and Amazon is not one of them. The monthly numbers is what you are referring to, which tracks all their data sources. If you get their weekly numbers, and their monthly numbers, they are often surprisingly different, with the monthly numbers being more accurate because of a bigger sample size. It doesn't affect trends that much though, which is probably why you see HMM using percentages instead of actual numbers.

I doubt that, mainly because Resident Evil 2 BD hit #10 for one week, and it was during the week that it was included for free from amazon (but still counted as a sold disc to the nielson #s). The disc was never spotted in the top 10 before or after that week, so i think amazon is definitely included.

I counted at least 10 or 11 BDs that are coming out early October that I plan on purchasing the week that Tranformers comes out. (This will be the most movies of any format I have purchased at one time!) There are a few more that I could add too, but I don't want to bust the piggy bank wide open.
Transformers HD is even out selling the Transformers DVD on Amazon at the moment. Thats almost unheard of...for any format! Shhhh don't tell anyone...the HD guys will be crowing it from the rafters.

No, it's not. It's out-ranking on pre-order Amazon.com. Rankings is not the same thing sales ratios. Pre-orders are not sales.

Amazon sales are indeed included in the Nielsen's and here is the proof: a couple of months ago, when the initial price reduction of the PS3 took place, Amazon was given away a Blu-Ray movie (first Memento then Resident Evil Apocalypse). Memento made it to # 2 or 3 in amazon sales, and that title had been released for months. Before the Amazon promotion, Memento was no where to be found in any of the relevant sales rankings. However, Memento #10 in the Nielsen's for the week of the amazon promotion.

An early tidbit:

On the high-definition disc front, Warner's "300" remained at the top of both the Blu-ray Disc and the HD DVD sales charts, according to First Alert data.

I think the only question any sane people have, is how much did BD win by...not whether they did.

I'm surprised that Heroes and BoG faded so quickly. Otoh, this is likely another one of those low volume weeks. It's not as if Delta Farce was going to break any records.

Wait till the movie is released and count the amount of disappointed people that bought the HD DVD thinking they could play it on their upscaling DVD player.
