I'm starting to see that now; the products they mentioned on the previous page are deadly toxic! This is seriously dangerous hazardous stuff ☣
And that brand is made in Mexico, containing toxic methanol!

Quote:
“Methanol is not an acceptable ingredient for hand sanitizers,” the FDA wrote. With use of hand sanitizers at a high amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the agency advised that anyone who has used the methanol-containing products “seek immediate treatment, which is critical for potential reversal of toxic effects of methanol poisoning.”

Quote:
Toxicity

Methanol, the simplest alcohol, is extremely poisonous and can cause harm if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin. It’s often associated with incorrectly distilled liquor. Drinking as little as 30 milliliters—1 ounce or 2 tablespoons—can be fatal to children. Smaller doses can cause permanent blindness.

Inside the body, methanol is metabolized to formaldehyde, then to formic acid. This can lead to metabolic acidosis, a dangerous buildup of acid in the body that can cause organ damage. Formic acid can also accumulate in the optic nerve, causing severe damage that can lead to permanent blindness.

According to safety documents, symptoms of poisoning by ingestion can manifest as gastrointestinal irritation—with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea—and central nervous system depression, causing headache, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, and an intoxicated feeling. This can progress to rapid breathing, slowed heart rate, kidney dysfunction, loss of consciousness, coma, and death.

When inhaled, it can immediately cause dizziness, nausea, headache, and vomiting. This is followed by a latent period with no apparent symptoms as metabolic acidosis develops. Then systemic effects appear, including vision problems.

Absorbed through the skin, methanol can cause the same systemic effects and vision problems. Prolonged exposure to skin can cause defatting of the skin as well as irritation.

Wow, last Sunday (June 21) there were 183,000 new COVID-19 confirmed cases, says WHO
... Largest one single day new cases.
https://nationalpost.com/news/world/...covid-19-cases

And on June 19 (last Friday) there were 182,202 new COVID-19 confirmed cases according to Worldometer.
But they did not confirm 183,000 new cases on Sunday...only 130,781 new cases...more than 50,000 short (52,000+).

I think other states need to get their acts together and do what NY is doing- enforce social distancing, wear masks and most importantly, open businesses in phases. The reopening phases has obviously been working very successfully here in NY. Cases still continue to drop despite people going back to work. I think other states should follow the same practice.

Seeing other states spike like this is very concerning because even though we're controlling the spread now in NY, people from others states can still pass it onto us and bring us back to right where we started.

☣ Important:

Please observe the hand sanitizers they offer when you enter a grocery store, etc. And stay away of those brands; they can cause serious damage to you and your family, your children. This is very serious ...

Why people should always check, re-check and then check again anything that they're applying to their skin.

Don't use hand sanitizers anymore, especially once I learned that the chain of events required for fomite transmission, makes it more likely I get hit by a train then getting covid that way. The days have long gone that I worry about sanitizing my mail or wiping down my hands with baby wipes every time I touch something when I'm out and about.

So if it says Ethyl Alcohol on it then it should be avoided? Or does it also have to say Ethanol on the bottle as well? My bottle (germ-x brand) that I keep in my office just say 70% Ethyl Alcohol.

Crap, over 6,000 cases today in California. California is only 30th out of the 50 states in cases/million people, but that's still a lot of cases and I hope they don't have to reintroduce restrictions that have been lifted.

See below for the FDA's list of specific products to avoid:

All-Clean Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-002-01)
Esk Biochem Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-007-01)
CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 75% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-008-04)
Lavar 70 Gel Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-006-01)
The Good Gel Antibacterial Gel Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-010-10)
CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 80% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-005-03)
CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 75% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-009-01)
CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 80% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-003-01)
Saniderm Advanced Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-001-01)

On June 17, the FDA advised Eskbiochem to take its hand sanitizer products off the market because they contained methanol. As of June 19, the company had not done so, according to the FDA.

If you see Eskbiochem @ the bottom (or near the bottom), DO NOT use it. That product producer (company) should have known better!

Most places have a table @ the entrance with hand sanitizers, check for that name and if you see it talk to the store manager.
Also, many grocery stores sanitize their carts and plastic buckets/baskets @ the door; I hope it's not from that company (Eskbiochem) and products made in Mexico.

One number that I look @ every day (for some countries) to have an idea is Serious Critical cases.
USA, Brazil and India...16,500 - 8,300 and 9,000 respectively.

Mexico somehow doesn't seem to reflect from that same number.
That's why I mentioned "for some countries".

Bruce, Ethanol or Ethyl alcohol are the same.

Wiki ...

Ethanol, also called ethyl alcohol, grain alcohol, drinking alcohol, or simply alcohol.
It's fine, it's only the company I mentioned earlier (Eskbiochem) with nine of their products identified.

* One of my eyes is pretty bad, purple red below my left eye. It was itchy and I touched there.
This morning it looked like a black eye. It could also be an allergy, I just don't know for sure.
What I know for a fact is I never had that for @ least fifty years.
