I know this is probably not easy to come by in a chaotic, ever-changing health crisis, but has anyone found an academic study on why Italy got hit so dramatically hard with this virus?

Quote:
WASHINGTON - President Donald Trump has signed an executive order making it a crime to excessively stockpile personal protective equipment that is needed by medical personnel fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Attorney General William Barr says the Justice Department has already launched investigations into people who are hoarding supplies and price gouging. He says investigators will go after people who are "hoarding these goods on an industrial scale for the purpose of manipulating the market."

The executive order allows the president to designate some items as "scarce."

Barr says, "If you are sitting on a warehouse with surgical masks, you will be hearing a knock on your door."

No specific items have been identified yet and the Justice Department will work with Health and Human Services to enforce the president's order.

Trump basically said, after his 15 day social distancing time frame is up, which is another week that he is going to open up the country again because the economy is in such bad shape. If you get the virus and die from it, tough sh!t because people die from a lot of things all the time.

Basically going to come down to whether your governor wants to keep things closed down or not.

That's absurd.

If its wiping out nursing homes or medical doctors and nurses in your community, you'd think a different tune (hopefully).

Well what'd they say, 30% of Americans are going to be out of work soon? That can only be true for so long before people start losing their places to live or starving to death.

No he said he will evaluate the situation after 15 days and make a decision. People are getting the virus now while shutdown and still dying. Governers will make the call for their states as they should, thats why people vote for them. There isn't a vaccine to stop it, If people actually listened instead of acting like *******s for the next 15 days things should slow up tremendously. But that isn't possible for humans to do. I'm glad it rained today, it was a blessing in disguise because nobody left their houses. Hopefully it rains everyday for the next two weeks.

GameStops are closed now though. I doubt they’ll be open again in my city by the time RE3 comes out so I’ll have to get it from somewhere else & cancel my pre order when they open again.

Here in the UK the government just closed down all non-essential stores and the GAME shop was staying open prior but employees had concerns people weren't heeding social distancing advice and so on. We also saw huge examples of people staying off work being stupid enough to go to social settings like parks etc. which have all now been banned thanks to idiots not heeding social distancing.

To me, i think GAME giving 80% wages per the government could help but the stores financially were in trouble and facing closures. This is probably gonna accelerate that and it's one of the few dedicated gaming shops for new releases. Could very well be the complete end of retail shopping as we know it.

Tbh, i blame the greed of our local authorities who killed the high street in the first place with high rents and business rates. This is only exacerbating the problem to the extreme and funnily enough, when nobody should be going on i saw councils in the UK begin offering free parking etc.

It's truly a pathetic situation in the UKs retail economy and this folly has been completely exposed. The cost of living was already bad and now with people unable to work and so on. I don't know how things will shake out. Our economies are built upon a greed driven ideology and selfishness imo and its going to wreck everything and globally the impact may be felt for a decade with the level of economic interventions being done. This could turn into something worse than the 2008 financial crisis.

Oh, damn. Well good. There's so much daily news regarding the virus that this one slipped through.

I guess every store in my mall is now closed but for some reason they're keeping it open?? I've seen lots of snapchat videos of the place looking like a dark ghost town.
