The numbers. When we see less and less new infections, we can then --carefully-- re-open some places, a bit at a time, and monitor closely for new cases. What else can we do? Keep things closed for another 6 months and then flip a switch and have it all open at once?

Considering I suspect I had it last month, I'd certainly take an anti-body test to know for sure.

People forget quickly. Once we have a vaccine and a handle on this, people will be mixing left, right and centre.

This is a tough situation, but I'm truly surprised at how many people are clamoring to open things up. If we were to do that, we would be back at square one again. This virus is 5 times more powerful than the average flu, yet people are delusional of those facts.
Times are tough, and they are going to be tough for a LONG time, but we really need to prioritize the safety of everyone. If you're not afraid of the virus, then that's great. Maybe do something with that lack of fear that will help those that are in fear. Find an essential job or do something charitable in the hot spots right now. If we open up too soon, we'll have to do this all over again, which honestly is probably going to happen. |

As soon as stores open I know I’ll be going to Best Buy for sure. I miss going there to buy movies, Target just isn’t the same. They don’t have as big a selection or even get in some of the new releases at my store (like Underwater). Will also be going into GameStop & a few other places just like the good old days a few months ago lol. Will obviously wear a mask & gloves.

According to the CDC
Quote:
![]() ![]() ![]() Those are the latest stats which as you know are only for the last two months. To make an apples to apples comparison we need to add another 5 months to the CV-19 stats. |

The rate of infection and deaths will naturally go down over time as more people develop antibodies and thus have fewer carriers to pass the virus. So it's not like in August or September you'll still see the numbers as they are now.
Also there will be far more widespread testing and contact tracing, making lots of things safer than they would appear to be so now. There will be much progress in minimizing risk factors, so it's not like life will be put on hold until there is a vaccine. |

The U.S. is 10th in deaths per capita among countries with at least 15,000 cases. So as bad as most of the world thinks we are doing, there are countries with much worse stats when you account for the population size.
The New York / New Jersey metro area has nearly half the total cases and is by far the hardest hit area in the world and it skews the extent of the pandemic in the rest of the country (although there are other hots spots like Detroit, New Orleans and Los Angeles, they pale in severity compared to NYC and surroundings). |
