Well looks like the toilet bidet attachment I bought for my wife when she was pregnant is turning out to be a good investment, gets you cleaner than simple TP alone anyway

I think NYC should consider limiting certain areas at a time and start spraying them with some sort of disinfectant or something like China did on a regular basis.

What people need to do is stay home. When this virus affected Korea, they made it mandatory for everybody to stay home. Coronavirus isn’t a thing in Korea anymore. But instead of staying home, people here are out buying all the damn toilet paper.

NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio predicted the city could be at 1,000 cases by next week and said the crisis could last six months or longer.

It would be nice if people did, but obviously a lot of people have to go in to work. People are still getting it in S. Korea, there's 110 new cases today so far, but it's less because of social distancing measures. Where S. Korea really succeeded is in their testing. They had drive-thrus where they were testing 10,000 people a day.

I went to the supermarket this morning, no toilet paper. I’m down to my last 4 rolls. What will happen when I run out?

There are traffic jams in store parking lots here with cops directing traffic. Completely and totally out of control.

My daughter's school will be closed for 3 weeks starting today according to the voice mail I received this morning. And I haven't even heard of a confirmed positive case in our county yet. The entire state is under a state of emergency. But of course I'm still expected to come to work, I'm probably more likely to contract it here than at an all you can eat self serve restaurant, oh well I have bills to pay so here I am.

You'll have to try and look around. Check .99 stores, etc..I know in my neighborhood some discount stores sell the Scott (or Marcal) 1000 sheet ones for like $0.70 (sometimes 2/$1).

I might have lucked out with TP, at least in the short term. A couple months back I had ordered a 27-roll pack from Target, but it kept getting delayed, and looked like it got lost, so I requested a refund. I then got a 24-pack in person from Stop & Shop, and then a couple days later the original Target order finally comes. So I have about 20 rolls left, which I imagine will last me some times.

I can understand the panic, and the store shortages in places like NYC, WA, and some other states, but I don't get the huge panic, and craze in places where there's barely any cases of the virus. I know it's growing concern there, but those places have it so much better than the higher risk places right now.

I'm picking up a few things at Costco at lunch (not related to the current virus), interested in seeing if the store's been hit?

I assume they'll have my diet coke, bananas, crackers and chicken breasts.

Not quite...

At least the US appear to be taking action. Bar a few cancelled events the UK answer is to carry on regardless

NYC are really going to look bad if they don't close all public schools soon..There's pressure from scientists, and others to do so. What the **** are they waiting for?

De Blasio, and the NYC government are going to be on the wrong side of history if they don't follow follow what these scientists are saying here

[Show spoiler]

The panic is in the store supplies (TP, water, Purell, etc) - I don't see fear in people on the streets. People are going about their business as they should. People were hoarding water and food in my local market a couple of nights ago but there was plenty of toilet paper left. I'm not going to hoard water - I consume water filtered by a Brita pitcher. There's more chemicals and contaminants in that plastic used by water companies than anything in my local tap water.

I would feel a lot better if I could some sanitizer. I have a small Target-brand one a while back that's going down. I really hope if/when Amazon gets some back, that they put a 1 per account limit on them.
