Well she's our governor so my guess would be yes. I think it may be a bit too soon but at least we're not one of the forty-two states that will be open again by Saturday.

I was just joking because that’s what everyone tells me. I had my mom give me a trim a couple of weeks ago and while she did the best she could (and I’m very thankful for her effort), nothing beats going to a professional barber. Especially my barber! I tell ya, if you’ve never been to my barber, you’re missing out on life.

Well then that wouldn’t be fair to the guy. The reason why he’s closed is for safety reasons. Taking house calls defeats that purpose!

A neighbour of mine came home from hospital in an ambulance earlier today. My mother told me there was an ambulance outside her house. My neighbour is an elderly woman. She was discharged from hospital after she got Covid-19 some time ago. I don't know how she got it up to this point. Paramedics & some members of her family & some neighbours had worn masks & gloves when she arrived home. She was wrapped up in a blanket while sitting on an ambulance trolley while having a mask on her face. Her family had put a 'Welcome Home' sign on her living room window when arrived home.

I don't know if I should consider wearing a mask to protect myself from getting the virus when she's home.

I have heard some medical evidence from studies being reported on the news this evening about people who have recovered from the virus. A method known as a "PCR" or polymerase chain reaction occurs while diagnosing a secondary infection in the patients lungs after they have had remnants of Covid-19 getting cleared from their system whilst in recovery from the virus. The evidence going around from this infection is that it apparently does not re-infect other people once it is still inside the original person who had the virus.

Is that information verified as genuine or inaccurate going from other studies about recovery from Covid?

Even though I am outdoors when I'm shopping for food; I still have not been wearing a mask yet. Neither my government or health department in my country has not made any formal instruction for people to wear masks while outdoors from their home. I have been complying with other measures such as staying at home, complying with social distancing & applying hand sanitizer upon entry & once I leave either a newsagent, a bank or a supermarket. I have also not been taking public transport services either while I am outside of my home, since the lockdown began, to lower my risk of transmission of the virus much further. Life has been so far, so good up to that point. I have been very lucky & pretty thankful in not getting any symptoms of the virus so far. I have also been lucky in being enemies to others whilst I sneeze. I have not sneezed to anyone outdoors since these lockdowns began. People around my area have been very complaint with most of the restrictions which has made a huge difference in reducing the spread of the virus among my population. Although the reduction of the spread from this virus is known by my government to be very fragile. There in people in my country who are starting to get complacent whilst they are going through the restrictions. A lot more people are going out of their homes & there is a lot more traffic noted in my area recently while I am outdoors as well. I don't know the full reasons in how this type of trend is increasing up to this point. But I guess more people are outdoors driving to pick up food or medicine & doing exercise. When they go for exercise; the pictures from the news appear to show people that are not complying with social distancing while they take part in this activity. There is still about 100 people a day being admitted to hospital after getting Covid-19.

This is not me doing a rant. I actually do want the restrictions to continue on for even longer until this virus is officially dead & buried once we get a vaccine.

My mother has go to a hospital appointment on Monday of next week. She had been recovering from a cold while the appointment letter arrived at her house a few days ago. Should she still go to attend the appointment at the hospital while there still are active cases of Covid-19 inside it? I have a fair idea of what to do when I arrive at the hospital if I go in with her. But going home from hospital is another thing to think about in my head because I will probably have to asked by doctors & nurses to self-isolate once I get home from there.

What should I do at that point?

TIA

It may seem like it now, but it's going to be herd immunity or the virus will be with us forever. Remember, herd immunity can also be achieved with a vaccine. And it's anyone's guess whether a vaccine will occur first (assuming it occurs) before most of the population gets infected.
True, but like MifuneFan said, I'm not sure enough of the population would get the vaccine necessary to get us to a point where we have herd immunity. There are, sadly, lots of anti-vac people out there, and since many young people feel they're unaffected by this, they won't feel the need to get a vaccine for this. It's not like some vaccinations where everyone automatically gets them at a young age. And making it mandatory will never fly.

As of today yes. She has lifted some of the restrictions by opening up golf courses in ABQ. Shorter hours, 15 minutes between golfing parties, one per cart unless family member with course marshals monitoring social distancing. Fail to observe, you will be asked to leave. T-Times were filled almost immediately.

We are still reporting 115 to 120 cases and 9 to 12 deaths per day so I guess you could say we flattened the curve.

Yeah we did flatten the curve in New Mexico, all bets are off once we re-open businesses in the bigger cities like Las Cruces, Albuquerque and Rio Rancho though.

Woo hoo...looking forward to the retail reopening in my jurisdiction tomorrow!

It'll be nice to get back to my old haunts. Most retail has been open but some of it has just been for curbside pickup. The big mall is open tomorrow as is my nearby surplus store.

The Nancies can stay locked up in their houses if they are scared to go out. Like the old saying goes, "more for the rest of us". It will keep the crowds down.

People are getting back to work and I'll be spending a lot of money. People are coming to their senses and this man-made insanity is ending.

Earlier today, several neighbors organized a neighborhood brunch on my townhouse street, with social distancing protocols in place, complete with bleach disinfectant, masks when needed, bring-your-own-plastic-cups/forks/spoons, and folks in camp chairs well over six feet apart from each other as we conversed. I'm normally wary of social-distancing-not-quite-social-distancing gatherings of this sort, since America is already bored with COVID-19, but COVID-19 is not yet bored with us. Nonetheless, I accepted the invitation to this one and just hung back a ways from the food table when people were crowded around it. Even for a proud introvert like me, there are times when interaction by way of typing on social media does not cut it.

One of the neighbors had a playlist going from her iPhone speakers as background music. Nirvana's “Lithium” was one of the songs. I looked up at the sunshine, thought back to when I first heard that Nirvana track during my sophomore year at Georgia Tech in 1991, and quickly meditated on all of life's twists and turns that led to my sitting on a camp chair in front of my townhouse under a blue sky on a Sunday morning.

This was one of those golden, albeit often fleeting, moments when you realize that, right here and right now, you are perfectly happy and everything is right in your world. I could have sat there for hours, just zoning out, hearing that Nirvana song, and staring at the townhouse roofs and the sky as I halfway listened to the conversations on the street from several feet away.

There's not much of a point to this post, I guess, but it was worth putting this into words to cling to that memory of a moment.

*checks google* Congrats on living in a region that's only had 282 cases with 6 deaths! Feels a bit different when you're in an area and under a government where those numbers are in the thousands at the moment.

Yup. Some don't have it so bad so they apparently can't seem to comprehend how some were hit horribly. If only this had some coverage on the news so people could see how bad it is for some people.

To be clear, I wasn't saying that countries should be actively trying to achieve herd immunity through any kind of un-mitigated reopening of the economy.

Herd immunity (assuming it's a thing, and I believe it is. Many scientists believe it's inevitable that most of the population gets infected eventually. That's how this virus is and there's no stopping it short of a foolproof vaccine, or a series of vaccines) is something that just happens over the course of time. Obviously the more mitigation we undertake, the longer it will be drawn out.

I am sorry IndyMLVC but the unfortunate truth is there are a lot of stupid, horrible people out there. This pandemic is just getting more of them to come out of the woodwork.
